I am an audiophile, I was looking for a desent sounding pair of outdoor speakers for my pool area. I was mostly concerned with build quality because I live in Florida and the elements can be very harsh here, especially for any type of speaker.
Well, Polk delivered what I needed, the specs are great, and you can really tell when you hold this speaker that it should hold up to the elements no problem at all. The bracket system is very well done, very user friendly and very adaptable to locations of all kinds. The only thing they don't provide is the screws for mounting, but simple enough. To my surprise, they sounded like a very good mid fi home two channel speaker set, honestly I was not expecting to sound as good as they do right out of the box. Break in time is long, but any thing of any quality (speaker wise) always is. Bass response is tight, but not over exaggerated. Bass is good, but more of a mid range shiner, vocals sound very realistic, highs are nice and clean even...

Great Product
Installed these over my back porch 40' by 40'. They cover the area easily with rich deep sound. For the cost, I don't think there is a better value out there.
My patio never sounded better
Let me start with the short version: These are the speakers you want for your patio or deck.
Their construction is solid and robust. The speaker is completely sealed. The actual cones are sealed and water proof. I haven't sprayed them with my hose (yet), but I can see how the ocasional light spray with water wouldn't affect them. That said, the connectors in the back are exposed so I assume they're vulnerable to corrosion, specially in salt environments. For that kind of setup, as in your beach house, you'll want to cover the connectors with a dab of marine grease to keep the salt out and prolong their life.
The mounting brackets are very well thought. You can detach the base to mount it to either the ceiling or a wall. In my case, I used anchors going through a pre-drilled hole in the plasterboard. All in all, a 5 minute per speaker deal. After the bracket is properly fastened to the wall, an oversized thumbscrew is all it takes to mount the speaker and adjust...
