Compare to a front tower!! It is awesome for price!
I was looking at Polk tower speakers at a Big Box store and was set to get a pair for over a grand, when for grins and giggles I decided to listen to some bookshelf speakers. Most were just ok and then I had these selected and WOW, I was blown away. I kept going back and forth on the selection panel between these and the Polk towers and the difference was negligible. Now I know that audio speakers are a definite subjective choice, but give these guys a listen if you want I very high quality sound for your front surrounds and don't want to spend a tone (I got them for $239 each, on sale) I replaced my old Bose 301 bookshelf speakers with these and the difference is night and day. Plus they give a very "immersive" feeling.

Superb clarity and presence
I recently purchased these after a move. The new living room provides very few options for where to place surrounds, so I needed to move to dipole/bipole speakers, which provide the kind of presence to allow you to put them in all kinds of places and still get a satisfying surround field. After a great deal of research and product comparison, I decided that these looked like the best combination of quality and price point. I was not disappointed.

I am not merely impressed with their "sound from everywhere" dipole presence, but also with their clarity and efficiency. Directional sounds are directional, and ambient sounds seem to fill the room. Frequency response is very even, and they perform well enough that even the meatiest soundtracks have very impressive warmth and clarity. In fact, they sound so good I'm planning to upgrade the rest of my speakers to this line, starting with the center channel.
RS-42 - A great surround speaker
After reading other reviews for the Klipsch RF-52/RS-42 II Reference floor standing speakers, there is not much that I can add other than to concur with the excellent reviews of Klipsch's outstanding product(s).

I'm using the RF-42's as the rear surround left and right speakers in a 5.1 home theater system/setup. I had an existing center channel and sub-woofer (an older Klipsch RC-3 and KSW-12)... it may be obvious that I'm a long term Klipsch fan. In our old home, I had installed Klipsch Reference ceiling speakers, which were brilliant- however, my new setup blows my old setup away. I rounded out my rear speakers with Klipsch RS-42's which sound (and look) very impressive. The speakers are hooked up to a Yamaha RX-V3800 which can drive the speakers up to 140 watts of power - the Klipsch speakers are so efficient that I rarely get beyond the 1/3 of the power available. I have the speakers in a 25x25 room with the primary seating 10-11 feet in front of the speakers...
