Took a chance at buying this and so far pretty happy
I looked everywhere and could not find a review on this subwoofer. I found a couple mentions here and there but no reviews. I was able to purchase direct for a cheaper price that included shipping.
I wanted a subwoofer for 2 reasons:
To use with my Logitech Squeezebox Boom All-in-One Network Music Player / Wi-Fi Internet Radio
Put it under our couch
Received it within a couple of days and arrived in its own box. Packaged well and was honestly impressed with everything. Has a nice smooth finish and feels well built. RCA cables feel a bit cheap but they included right angle plugs which you really need to use since the box is so low to the ground. 8 inch subwoofer and is ported.

You definitely get what you pay for, too bad..
I gave it two stars because I liked the shape and design, otherwise it deserves one star. The sub vibrates and resonates internally in the upper xover range (if you allow it to play 90hz or higher, it plays up to 140hz). Even at lower frequency there is still internal resonance rattle. The problem is the amp board does not have epoxied components so they all rattle from the bass- the amp innards sit inside the sub cabinet ported chamber area. The other problem is the sub cabinet is made of very thin pressboard, and it is not stiff or dense enough for a sub cabinet. Also, the screws that hold the amp board into the cabinet cannot be tightened enough without stripping, due to the poor quality paper-like pressboard cabinet material (it just does not hold screws well!)
In short, this sub will not sound good at louder volumes- You'll hear sounds from the sub cabinet itself instead of just hearing the bass. I was very hopeful on this as I love the slim case design. My...
Great low-profile sub for the money
I purchased this sub to replace a large NHT subwoofer that was taking up a corner of our living room. I wanted something I could hide under or behind the couch and the New Black SUB8S fit the bill. I have it standing up with the provided stands between the coach and wall.
With its variable volume, auto-shut off, and frequency cut-off control it has all the features my old NHT woofer had. When it comes to sound, it does what I need for it to do--it thumps and rumbles when I watch FIOS or play the PS3. I am not trying to have a rock concert in my living room. I just want full sound and this delivers.
The woofer did come with a few bunged corners, but no one will ever see this thing.
For the price, this is a great option for you if you want full sound without having a big sub-woofer box taking up space.
