You Won't Believe It....

Quincy Jones + Studio Level speaker mfgr = quality I didn't expect at a value I could never get through normal channels. I'm not an audiophile, but these create a better sound space than my local movie theater. I didn't plan to add surround sound to my flat-screen till I found these, but now I actually look forward to sitting down to the sound as much as the picture with my new flat screen. For the first few weeks, we turned around on several occassions thinking someone might be in the house, when we heard a particularly clear back noise. It was eerie.
On the older silver line set that I own, lab analysis shows a nice, even sound across all bandwidths except for a narrow drop off just below the voice range. When I first bought these I thought I could hear that difference playing the same song back and forth with my home audio system. Now I don't hear it, but I think I've just gotten used to it. First of all, because I am in Ohio, and this is where the product shipped from, it was here almost immediately. but I had also ordered speaker stands from a different vendor, and they came the same day. And so began the fun...
The unit is no lightweight, and not small in any way. I had to gerry-rig the speakers to work with the stands. I am a man of mechanics, so for me, no big deal, but the speakers are long, (all 5 are identical), and rounded. They come with stands that can be placed on some flat surface, like an end table or whatever, and they are fine; if not your situation, you will have to engineer something to get them up where you want them, or hang them on a wall.
The installation: they come preset, all you do is hook them up, you really don't have to make any adjustments if you don't want to. and..be prepared..if you aren't real familiar with a higher-end system, don't expect to make friends with the instruction manual; it is all basically in there, but if you...
Obvious what happened here
I did my research before buying this ... I had known about SLS from their concert sound reinforcement products. As I understand it, this bundle is a mix of SLS speakers and the Sherwood (re-branded amp).
For whatever reason, SLS entered the consumer market and then pulled out. Likely because consumers markets are full of "consumers" who are likely only after the lowest price ... etc ... Probably more money to be made in their already successful concert products (Which are an industry standard by the way) ...
In any event, the online seller of this bundle likely bought up all SLS remain speakers at a bargain ...
Other reviewers are right when they say that the price is still good if it were for the speakers alone. They sound exceptional compared to just about anything I have heard. The amp (which is nice as well) is definitely worth it as well when you consider the overall price.
