Decent small soundbar
We bought this to replace an ailing VSB200. This new soundbar has fixed a number of problems with the older unit.
Compared to VSB200/202:
Pros:
More compact, lighter weight
Nice readable display on front panel (textual display indicates input source, numeric volume setting, in the "mute" state, and a small led is lit whenever the unit is on.)
Nicer remote
No more problems with remote IR line-of-sight occlusion (i.e. the remote works every time.)
Remembers input selection even after power is disconnected.
Cons:
Mid and high frequencies are fine, but has very little bass. (Bass is not essential for our needs... But the older bars sounded fuller.)
Increased power consumption. (With average audio content, the 200 averaged about 6 watts, the 202 used 4.5, but this new bar swings between 6.5 and 10 watts. The vizios in general are very efficient.)
More easily driven to distortion than the older/bigger soundbars...

Not as good as a `real' surround sound system, but perfect for spots where you are just using the TV's speakers.
In our house, we have a living room set-up with a huge TV and a "real" surround sound set-up with a receiver and multiple speakers spread thorough the room. It sounds great and can't be beat by any sound bar. That said, we have other TVs in the house that aren't as big of a priority as our living room. Bedrooms and some other rooms in the house warrant TVs and good sound, but not the huge investment that we put into the living room. For us, that is where Sound Bars come in perfect use. For years we just used the built in speakers on those TVs throughout the house. It was fine, but compared to the living room set-up, the sound was really lacking.
This sound bar is perfect for that situation. With its own internal amplifier, you just plug it in to your TV and use it instead of the TV's terrible internal speakers. Considering the ease of set-up and the price, it sounds awesome. For some types of shows, it is honestly as good as a real 5.1 set-up. For real intensive...
Vizio Sound Bar
I have a 55 inch Sony HD TV. The sound from the back speakers is not good enough to hear at a distance of 15 feet or so. This Vizio Sound Bar does a great job of projecting the sound at a greater distance. The problem I had was inserting the Optical cable into the back of the sound bar. The cable snapped into the back of the TV without any problem. It would not hold itself in the socket of the sound bar. The socket in the back of the sound bar is at a right angle and very hard to push in. I called the Vizio service line and was told that the cable would not snap into place and could not tolorate any tension on the cable. I finally got the cable positioned just right and taped it so it wouldn't move. I works OK now, but think that Vizio should have supplied an Optical cable with a right angle end for easier installation.
