once it works its awesome, untill then prepare for pain
This review is for is to inform consumers about a rather severe problem that this unit has an issue with
and how to fix it.

PRE: This unit when it was shipped by Onkyo was part of a line of units that were to feature
new and improved networking components for networked home theater management. However, the firmware
installed on the units was as Onkyo puts it- not the correct version.
In short the unit can be a brick out of the box and nothing works until you follow there new update procedure
as described online if the unit contains the original firmware from the factory.
I received one of these units.

To fix this you will have to re flash the firmware on the unit manually, as per Onkyo all "networked"
(internet based) rom flashing is no longer done for this unit.

So if you care not to return it and you want to fix it:

1. get a usb 2.0 flash key of about 4G or smaller and in windows format it to regular...

Nice sound, easy setup - but some rough edges
Good stuff:
Nice receiver. Pretty easy to set up. Good to get 5.1 surround sound from hi-def movies. Nice selection of network audio (Pandora, Rhapsody, Spotify, and others I haven't heard of).
Bad stuff:
Although there are six HDMI inputs, two component inputs and four old-style video inputs on the back panel, the remote only allows selection from amongst five logical inputs: "BD/DVD", "CBL/SAT", "GAME", "PC" and "AUX". In setup mode you can assign a physical input to one of these logical inputs (e.g. I have a Roku plugged into HDMI5 that I assigned to "AUX"). But this means that if you actually plug in six HDMI devices (in fact more than five of any combination of device types), you will have to juggle in setup mode to reassign a couple of them before you can select them. Seems almost pointless having six sockets if it is such a pain to use all of them.
The receiver does not "up-convert" video inputs. So if have any component or regular video devices connected to...
All it's advertised to be
I am very happy with this product, it does everthing they advertise it to do. Was easy to connect & program. Only draw back was when connecting the Wii, it does not convert & send the signal to the TV through the HDMI, had to run seperate video cable. Has great sound & remote works all components.
