Excellent addition to the A5's
This subwoofer is the perfect companion to the Audioengine A5's. The adjustments allow you to hit its sweet spot and not try hit the higher frequency notes. My only complaint would be that the volume adjusts completely independently of the A5's. So if I want to adjust the volume without screwing up my balance between my A5's and subwoofer, I need to do it with the computer sound card as opposed to the volume dials.
The A5's combined with S8 sound more accurate than my Definitive Technology 7.1 system using a Yamaha receiver.

Epic setup for PC speakers, or as a Sonos/Apple Driver. Power and Accuracy.
Let me start off by saying these are way more than just computer speakers - but thats what I purchased them for (at least at first). They also KILL as stand alone speakers when used with Sonos or Apple (or other sources too I imagine).
I purchased a set of A5+ speakers to replace my long running Klipsch ProMedia 4.1 system for use on my home office PC. I work as a Sales Engineer, with lots of time spent in front of my PC working on spreadsheets, researching and doing other work - all the while listening to a mix of streaming music and NAS served MP3 content. I also play my fair share of PC games, (MW3, Battlefield etc). I was (pretty) happy with the ProMedia - at the time they were one of the best options, especially for the price. I finally drove them into the ground and was searching for replacements. My local Fry's had frankly - terrible selection in the PC speaker department (at any price). Logitech? Please. A Must Have
There is simply no going back. I thought that the Audioengine A5s had considerable low end punch given that they are basically tiny compared to my much larger JBLs but the accurate low end frequency range added by the AS8 sub is just phenomenal. Whether music or TV I cannot say enough about how much this sub adds to the already existing ear candy of the A5s. Voices are especially complimented by this little subwoofer. Truly worth the purchase.
