The goal with AP4 was to design a small but powerful bookshelf speaker for people that already have surround receivers or amplifiers and are looking for the same Audioengine sound and quality in a passive loudspeaker. Already have an amplifier?"If you already have an power amp or don't want to give up that big surround receiver then the AP4 is for you. The AP4 has excellent bass response for its size, which is evident when used either as stereo speakers or as satellite surround speakers in your home theater setup.
With so many on offer these days, it is great to have a name you can trust. This item is certainly that and will be a perfect buy. The distributor have added some great touches and this equals great value.

Audioengine P4 Bamboo
In a word "AMAZING". First of all these speakers are very full sounding and can handle VERY loud volumes with no discernible distortion. They have a small footprint but the sound presence produced by these wonders is truly something to behold. If you get a chance please try out these speakers and you won't regret it.

I bought them based on a review I read in a computer magazine (maximum pc) and I have trusted their reviews for over 10 years. If you don't have a lot of space and need the highest quality sound from a small but large sounding package then these are ones to get. I can listen to these all day long, that's how good they are.

Prior to this system I had Klipcsh pro media 5.1's and at the time they were the best speakers on the market for a computer gaming system. I would like to say that the Audioengines are a MUCH more listenable system. I don't even care that they aren't a 5.1 system because the sound stage they create is so lifelike. When I...

Audioengine P4 Bamboo; Part of an AirPlay System
I own powered versions of Audioengine speakers including the A2s (black), A5s (white) and S8 subwoofer. The A2s and S8 are the sound system for my bedroom TV, and the A5s and another subwoofer are the sound system in my living room.

I wanted to create an office Apple AirPlay Wi-Fi music system powered by a Griffin Twenty 20-watt (per channel) amp paired with an Apple Airport Express (previous model). The Twenty has an AC socket for the Airport Express and connects to it with a short, supplied optical Toslink cable. I needed some speakers for the output and decided on the P4s. (The system can be addressed through iTunes or directly by an iPhone, iPad or iPod.)

The P4s are smaller than the A5s, with a 4" woofer rather than the 5" in the A5s, losing a bit of low end (58 vs. 50 Hz). The laminated, "carbonized" bamboo cabinet - the term is never explained - is gorgeous, with a deep honey tone, and each speaker seems as if it were carved from a solid block. There are...
Love'em
Really happy with the sound, look, and build of these speakers. Only complaint: in the documentation on Audioengine's website they recommend Omnimount speaker mounts. I bought them, Omnimount 10.0 Wall/ceiling Speaker Mount, and was very disappointed. I couldn't get the mounts tight enough to hold the speakers in position. Then after googling a bit, I ordered the Panavise 105108W Speaker Stud Mount White from Amazon. They work much, much better. Was able to tighten them very easily.

Great speakers, but make sure you have adequate mounts if you're planning on a really nice install!
