Speakercraft AIM7Two Fully Pivoting High Fidelity In-Ceiling Loudspeaker - Each
The SpeakerCraft tradition of innovative design, combined with one of the most extensive engineering efforts in this industry's history, has led to the creation of the patented AIM series of fully directional in-ceiling loudspeakers. Each model can be entirely pivoted towards the listener while remaining discretely recessed behind a flush-mounted grille. If listening position or tastes change, the speaker can be easily aimed in another direction with a simple push of the hand. The AIM7 Series features fully pivoting woofers and independently pivoting tweeters, allowing the entire speaker to be aimed toward the listener. Speakercraft was the first company to introduce a pivoting speaker. They patented the design and will defend their right to be the only company to offer their dealers this superior technology.SpeakerCraft's AIM technology was first utilized in a 6" ceiling speaker. The ability to focus the sound toward the listening area was instantly recognized as a tremendous advantage and the popularity of these speakers once again confirmed the fact that SpeakerCraft is the industry leader. After years of dominating the in-ceiling category, our engineers revisited the original AIM series with the goal of squeezing even more performance out of the 6" format. The result of this effort is the AIM7 series. Utilizing what we learned from creating other AIM speakers, we were able to increase the woofer size a full inch in diameter without enlarging the outside dimensions of the s

Spectacular design and construction yields superior sound
We used this speaker to replace the center speaker in our home theatre system. It has always been a problem to hear voices, which were slightly muffled and muddy because of its position below the television (the only way to make it centralized), and because of the surround sound, a 5:1 plus subwoofer. You can hear the movie next door while not being able to hear many voices in a movie. This speaker has produced a noticeable clarity to the speech track in broadcast programs and in digital movies and even in the treble of music.

Another interesting part is that I am not aware that the speaker is mounted in the ceiling. The voice track images perfectly. It sounds like the speech is coming from the actors themselves. I was worried that it would sound separate from the surround sound environment but it has integrated perfectly.

This speaker is a two way speaker and the tweeter can be aimed specifically to optimize the sound directly toward the listeners. The...

Clear, crisp, stunning sound!
This speaker has made me wish I had the ability to put these in every room in my house with a television.

The sound is so crisp. Beyond that, this speaker can be put anywhere you want; the ceiling, the wall. Wherever you need it, you can install it. We debated for a long time on where to put this, but finally decided to install it right above the couch. I'm so glad we did. It really is like a movie theater experience now, only I think it sounds better! So many surround sound systems have me thinking a sound is coming from my right or left. With this speaker mounted above, it truly showers the entire sound "field" with whatever you are watching or listening to. I think that is the ultimate goal of surround sound. You shouldn't be distinguishing right from left. You should be hearing it from all over and with this speaker above the couch, I am. Very pleased.
Great, High Quality Directional Speaker
I got one of these speakers to try out and was impressed by how well constructed the speaker was. An innovative pivoting and rotating woofer is backed by some heavy-feeling impressively intricate hardware that impress with their looks as well as sound.

The limitation of in-ceiling speakers is that the sound isn't focused toward your ears, as is preferable for higher tones, and this product solves that problem well. It still sometimes feels like the sound is coming from "up" instead of "behind", but at least you can aim the tweeters to minimize the effect.

Clear, Precise, Undistorted Sound is Priceless and So are these Speakers.
Sorry, but I have to write a more passionate review than those already posted- especially for a speaker that deserves a strong review as these Infinity dual-woofer inwall speakers do.
We use a pair of these speakers in our living room, and other pairs of the smaller single woofer infinity's in the other rooms of our home. So together we have a whole house stereo system which easily replaces a multiple stereos on numerous rooms. The whole system is driven by a single 40watt Yamaha stereo receiver.
The outstanding thing about these specific speakers is that they sound as good as a $500-$1000 pair of free-standing speakers and don't taking up a single foot of floor space. And this is pretty critical when you have children that like to touch, lift, knock-over any object the see (not all the time of course but it only takes one)
The infinity's are great for FM radio with HD or terrestial because voices are crystal clear-- like they are in the room with you.
I can not...

center speaker
Thus is an excellent speaker to serve as a center channel for a surround sound system. It was the right size to fit into the available space that was available in the center and front of the room. It fills in as the center channel above my big screen digital tv.

i am satisfied with this product. the sound is clear and strong. a good product for those that love good sound but don't want to pay a lot for it.

MartinLogan Motion 12 Floorstanding Speaker (Black Ash, each)
Inspired by MartinLogan's ultra-high-end electrostatic loudspeakers, the Motion Series was created to provide stunning sound for your ultimate-performance home theater or stereo. MartinLogan's dedicated in-house engineers carefully crafted the Motion Series to create an extremely affordable and compact product line that seamlessly blends our exquisite Folded Motion transducers with powerful, compact bass technology. The result is a smooth, refined sound with stunning dynamic range and jaw-dropping clarity. The Folded Motion Tweeter works by moving air (which creates sound) perpendicular to the folded ridges of the diaphragm, similar to how an accordion works. This extremely low mass diaphragm "squeezes" air and requires almost 90% less excursion than the typical 1" dome tweeter, which drastically minimizes distortion while providing a lightning fast response time. The increased surface area also provides a wide, yet controlled sound dispersion to create a realistic and carefully etched sound stage. Convenient push-style speaker terminals and curved inserts help guide speaker wire effortlessly into place. The rubber end caps on the terminal are also removable for the use of banana plugs instead of bare wire. So simple, you'll actually enjoy hooking up these speakers.

Excellent Reproduction for Stereo listening! (and Home Theater as part of a larger system)
These speakers are GREAT! Please read on to discover just WHY I think so......

First, some background and setup info that might come in handy.....

The Martin Logan Motion 12 Floor-standing Speaker belongs to a family of products comprising Martin Logan's "Motion" line and is at the top tier of the Motion series. A pair of these speakers can be used for stereo listening or matched with other members of the Motion line to assemble a full 5.1 home theater system or even more elaborate configurations. All of the Motion line are 'Voice Matched' to provide a seamless tonal and spacial transition between speakers during 5.1 playback.

The speakers come very well packed and fully protected for shipping and include the miniETC floor spikes and detachable magnetic grills, upper and lower for each speaker, manual and warranty card. I was VERY impressed with the packing method used and they emerged from their boxes in absolute pristine condition, wrapped in...

Spectacular speakers for the price
The first impression of these speakers came as I unpacked them. The packaging is excellent as it should be to provide the proper protection. So, no surprise, they were delivered in perfect condition. These speakers are beautiful to look at and come with very classy baffles that connect magnetically to hid the speaker cones. Connecting them was very easy since they come with high quality connections that make it easy to make solidly connect with a variety of different kinds of wire connectors.

These speakers really deliver whether you are listening to Rock and Roll or classical music. My listing choices ranged from ELP's first album to Debussy's La Mer. Both kinds of music, even though wildly different, sounded great. You get the necessary powerful crunch needed to appreciate rock music, and when listening to classical music they very nicely reproduce subtle musical nuances required to fully appreciate the piece. They work very well for watching television or movies. My wife...
Good for music, better for home theater
I have been an audiophile for 35 years, building speakers and cooperating with manufacturers.

I bought the M 12 after I realized that the ML Motion 10 cannot be used as a front/stereo speaker if you have some expectations from the sound you are listening to. As soon as the double-boxed package containing the M 12 arrived, I set it up, and immediately noticed that the speakers I received - as opposed to the M 10s I had received 12 days before - may have been burnt in or simply represented a different category. The sound was as good as it gets from the technology employed in the speakers, but the bass actually deepened after burn-in, which upset the sound balance by my standards. The dust on the membranes suggested that this time I received store display units. As I had a problem with one of the tweeters (the harmonica membrane was disfigured and the panel edges were touching each other at places), I called ML Customer Support. They got back to me in a few hours, assured me...

Excellent
I purchased a set of these speakers about a year ago to supplement my Cambridge Soundworks Movie Works surround speakers. I moved my old front speakers to the 7.1 top fronts and used the Infinity Primus as my new fronts. So far, I have been very impressed. The quality of sound has been superb. Since these are part of my existing system, I've already got a nice powered sub that takes care of the lows but these seem to do a great job through the whole octave range.

I purchased the 6-1/2" but be aware that they are large and heavy and will take up a lot of real estate for front speakers - especially if you're used to satellite style speakers. They look very nice though - the front covers are nicely styled and the speakers really look nice with or without the screens.

Compared to other fronts I've owned:

* Bose 201's - Primus sound is superior in my opinion (muuch better range). Size and style of the Bose slightly superior.
* Cambridge...

Infinity Primus bookshelf speakers
I bought a pair of the Primus 2 way 6 1/2" bookshelves to augment a previous generation Primus tower pair. They sound fantastic. Match up great with the other Primus speakers in the room. Quality construction. Very heavy for its size. I bought them as surround speakers, but for a small stereo setup they'd be fine as stand alones.
Great Value for the price
These speakers sound great for their price range. They are not high end speakers but then again they don't cost what high end speakers do. I use these for the front speakers of my 7.1 surround sound setup. They do quite well. They are not overly tinny with highs and do have good frequency response overall. I would use them for general purpose stereo speakers as well, as long as the application didn't require a lot of volume in a large room. Other than that, I highly recommend them. The price on Amazon was vastly cheaper than on a lot of other sites at the time of my purchase, about $85 VS $130. Great speakers.

Great Speakers!
At $30 a pop its really hard to go wrong here. They are heavy duty, each weighs 5-6lbs as described. I don't have a receiver yet but hooked it up to an old stereo and cranked it. You aren't going to get much base with this system. I guess that's why you need a sub-woofer. I'm looking into the Polk 12" woofer now and Denon 7.1 receiver. I still need 3 more and looking to buy another set. As long as you have a good set up with solid signal and good cables you can't pass up these speakers. I gave it 5 stars because I am not a big audiofile, so i can't say if these are better than other speakers out there. I'm sure there are better speakers on the market, just not at this price. But again, the sound is good, just no bass. I will mention i used 14 gauge RCA brand wire with gang plate and banana connectors for easy connections. The speakers were packed very well and look great on my walls :)

Great!!
I first bought one just to test it. I was really impressed with the sound, they gave out a nice FULL range sound, and crisp highs. i went ahead and bought the 2nd, and rears speakers. they look great on my wall. definitely a great speaker for the price!! BUT!!! the only DOWNSIDE! is that a couldnt find a center channel speaker to complete my set up. OTHER THAN THAT GREAT DEAL! VERY HAPPY...(UPdate: i stand corrected! found a center channel)
Elegant, Beefy crossover, Gold plated terminals
After an extensive research I decided to purchase 4- M-6S 6 1/2" two way speakers and one Micca 3 way 5 1/4 center channel. The quality and price were mayor factors in my decision. Micca shipped the products promptly with free shipping. I am using a pioneer digital receiver and a 10" Polk audio powered sub woofer. The TV is a 64" L.E.D Samsung Smart TV. After carefully installing all the speakers and calibrating the system via an external microphone the sound was amazing. The speakers are professionally made. Elegant, Beefy crossover, Gold plated terminals, etc. I have been installing sound systems for over 25 years.I have seen many speakers and for the price and quality, these are a smart buy. Make sure you get a professional to install them in order to get the best out of them, sit back and enjoy!

Impressed and I'm hard to impress
I put this up against my Polk CS20 figuring it would be a light weight. I ran it as the main center for a week. The side speakers on my system are wall mounted Polks and the sides are a pair of old Energies. I figured that even if the speakers weren't voice matched, it would still be fun to give these a shot. I didn't expect much but much to my surprise, this has become my main center now.

By rights these speakers shouldn't sound as good as they do. I have large speakers on the side and I like having the larger speakers in the centers to compensate. The JBL has smaller 4" speakers and an odd tweeter that is set at one side of the speaker instead of in the center. It has a pair of bars over it which must enhance the sound somehow. This speaker is heavy and I think that is what leads to such terrific sound.

The voice timbre that comes out of this speaker is deep and rich. In comparison, the Polk sounds smaller and has much more mid and less bass. Even the family...

A Pleasant Surprise
First, I readily admit that I am NOT an audiophile nor a sound "techie" so I will not relist the technical aspects of this JBL speaker that are contained in the above specs; therefore, I can only say that I like how it looks and how it sounds. I acquired this center channel speaker and added it to my 7.1 home multichannel surround system that contains different brand name speakers and a Sony receiver and Sony Blu-Ray--so nothing is matched by brand sequencing. This being said, the JBL Studio 120c has been a welcome addition and a surprise for its efficacy matched by its price, something I consider a real value.

The unit is very rigid and sturdy at 18.6 pounds and clearly is solidly built. I find the distinctive JBL black weave design to be an intriguing addition to my system as it sits beneath my HD plasma TV and adds a classy decorative look to the whole setup. Obviously, it is magnetically shielded since it is so close to my video units. In addition to its front facing...

Compare to a front tower!! It is awesome for price!
I was looking at Polk tower speakers at a Big Box store and was set to get a pair for over a grand, when for grins and giggles I decided to listen to some bookshelf speakers. Most were just ok and then I had these selected and WOW, I was blown away. I kept going back and forth on the selection panel between these and the Polk towers and the difference was negligible. Now I know that audio speakers are a definite subjective choice, but give these guys a listen if you want I very high quality sound for your front surrounds and don't want to spend a tone (I got them for $239 each, on sale) I replaced my old Bose 301 bookshelf speakers with these and the difference is night and day. Plus they give a very "immersive" feeling.

Superb clarity and presence
I recently purchased these after a move. The new living room provides very few options for where to place surrounds, so I needed to move to dipole/bipole speakers, which provide the kind of presence to allow you to put them in all kinds of places and still get a satisfying surround field. After a great deal of research and product comparison, I decided that these looked like the best combination of quality and price point. I was not disappointed.

I am not merely impressed with their "sound from everywhere" dipole presence, but also with their clarity and efficiency. Directional sounds are directional, and ambient sounds seem to fill the room. Frequency response is very even, and they perform well enough that even the meatiest soundtracks have very impressive warmth and clarity. In fact, they sound so good I'm planning to upgrade the rest of my speakers to this line, starting with the center channel.
RS-42 - A great surround speaker
After reading other reviews for the Klipsch RF-52/RS-42 II Reference floor standing speakers, there is not much that I can add other than to concur with the excellent reviews of Klipsch's outstanding product(s).

I'm using the RF-42's as the rear surround left and right speakers in a 5.1 home theater system/setup. I had an existing center channel and sub-woofer (an older Klipsch RC-3 and KSW-12)... it may be obvious that I'm a long term Klipsch fan. In our old home, I had installed Klipsch Reference ceiling speakers, which were brilliant- however, my new setup blows my old setup away. I rounded out my rear speakers with Klipsch RS-42's which sound (and look) very impressive. The speakers are hooked up to a Yamaha RX-V3800 which can drive the speakers up to 140 watts of power - the Klipsch speakers are so efficient that I rarely get beyond the 1/3 of the power available. I have the speakers in a 25x25 room with the primary seating 10-11 feet in front of the speakers...

Fantastic
Bought 4 of these speakers a couple of weeks ago. Installation was a breeze. My expectations were not very high for such cheap speakers but after I got them setup, I could not be more pleased! They have plenty of power (all 4 are downstairs in various rooms covering roughly 1400 sqft and it sounds awesome) and are very pleasing to the eye - you really have to be staring at your ceiling to see them. I have absolutely no complaints!

Worth every penny!
Speakers arrived on time; very well packaged. I (like others) was slightly skeptical with the low price, but ordered them based on other reviews. No complaints whatsoever. They sound fantastic --- sharp and clear lows/mids/highs. I'll be using them mainly for background music, but I have no doubt they could blow the windows out of the house without distorting. For reference, I have BOSE "virtually invisible" speakers in my home theater, and they sound exceptional -- but NOT BY THEMSELVES -- they require a separate subwoofer. These speakers (having 8" woofers) are FINE by themselves. If you want (in-ceiling) music in your family room, kitchen, whatever, don't hesitate to buy these; you'll be happy!
Installation Details Revealed
I'll get right to some installation details that I didn't know until I unpackaged them:

INSTALLATION: To my surprise (disclaimer: these are my first in-wall speakers), these speakers install just like an "old work" electrical box. That is, they have screws accessed from the front that have plastic flaps on the far end that tighten around already-installed drywall/plaster/plywood/other. This actually makes installation extremely easy, assuming you can access your speaker wire through your new ceiling hole. The reason I'm mentioning this, though, is it actually makes my life slightly more difficult, as I was planning to install these in an as-of-yet unfinished attic room (no ceiling, just joists) so I can listen to my Death Metal through my whole-house-audio system without moving speakers attached to terminals around as I work.

FYI, per the manual, the cutout hole needed is 9-3/8" diameter, the outer diameter of the speaker frame is 10-3/4", and the mounting...

Great Speakers
I have purchased Dual 5.25" 2-way as well as 6.5" and 8" Micca speakers for my 7.1 Yamaha surround sound system. Sound quality is superb. Templates, instructions, self-securing brackets built into wall/ceiling speakers make their installation a breeze. Tweeter can be oriented towards target zone. The Dual speakers work very well for front center and side speakers, and size perfectly for easy fit between wall studs for installation. Middle speakers (back speakers for 5.1 system) need to be 8" Miccas, due to their greater bass output. Don't need that bass output for front speakers due to use of subwoofer providing all bass needed. The smaller 6.5" speakers work well as rear speakers in 7.1 system. Great quality, economic price, easy installation. No drawbacks. Highly recommend.

Great sounding speaker
I purchased this speaker for my center channel in my home theatre and for the money I think I made the right decision it sounds nice and clear and people are amazed about the sound quality that comes out of these speakers. I would highly recommend these speakers
Easy to Install -- Sound Great
I'm not an audiophile and I've never had any other in-wall speakers, but these things sound good to me for $45/piece.

I hooked up four of these to an old receiver and it was groovy. Install was probably 1 hour a speaker including running cable in my walls.

Install is pretty easy with the included template. I recommend you tape down the template, drill holes in each corner of the template and then cut the walls with your drywall saw.

I did buy some fiberglass insulation (ie. the "Pink Stuff") and stuffed a few layers behind each speaker. I didn't try them without the insulation, as the manufacturer recommends you insulate the speakers. It makes intuitive sense to me to insulate them.

I thought the mounting brackets and grille on the speakers are a little jenky, but for the price I can live with it.

Great value, excellent sound
I bought a pair of Micca M-6Cs to replace a pair of aged & failing ceiling speakers. They sound great -- not a booming bass, but decent -- nothing a subwoofer somewhere in the neighborhood can't easily augment. The rest of the sound is solid, clear and well balanced.

While they are indeed 6.5" speakers, the very nice quick mount and grill system they come with is slightly larger. No big -- If you're replacing some existing 6.5" speakers, you can unscrew the speakers and the crossover system from the mount, hot glue the crossover to the magnet backside and install in your existing speaker box and hole. The crossover board has some nice speaker line in quick attachment buttons.

Bang for the buck and then some
Wow, I'm really quite impressed by these inexpensive speaker. Our home system has grown organically over the years and we wound up with different speakers in every room. My girlfriend and I both prefer these over all the others and that includes both Bose and Polk speakers, hands down.

Build quality is excellent, the case (basically standard to all mfgs) mounts easily, the pc boards are very thick and populated with high quality caps and inductors, the attachment points are gold plated push studs, the speakers have nice size magnets without being grotesque and the basket assembly (stamped) is sturdy......all in all very solid.

Installation template was cake to use (the plaster ceiling wasn't, but that's another story altogether) and the included grills fit nice and snug.

They look great, they sound even better, totally happy with the purchase and about to get another set for the bedroom.
Great value
Bought 4 of these for in-ceiling audio in the office boardroom; and for this purpose they've been great. Installation features are excellent, have a very clean look once installed and sound pretty decent. For general purpose audio or soft background music, or perhaps surround channels for the casual home theater the audio quality is perfectly decent, but I would not consider this speaker for serious music listening at reasonable volumes. Not that the speakers have problem playing at volume, but at levels where the music is the focus of your attention the tonal qualities of the speaker become more apparent. Overall I think these speakers are excellent value and would not hesitate to buy again.

Polk Audio TL 1 Sat Speaker (Each, Black)
Big Speaker Sound Without The Big Speaker Whether you're looking for your first home theater sub/sat system or want to upgrade to more performance, you're in for a big surprise in a small, compact package from Polk Audio. The predecessor to Blackstone TL, our RM series, was always about "Big Speaker Sound Without The Big Speaker." Blackstone TL represents a significant leap forward, delivering an astonishing home theater performance never before heard in compact loudspeakers.

Compact Audio Surprise
Compact Audio Surprise!

I purchased two Polk Audio TL 1 speakers in an attempt to add true 5.1 Surround Sound for a Yamaha YHT-S401 sound bar. While I was pretty happy with the YHT-S401's "virtual" 7.1 capabilities, adding the TL 1's as satellite surround sound left/right speakers for true 5.1 sound to this sound bar system really created a superior sound stage experience.

Good to know:

-Excellent value
-.5" Silk dome tweeter , 2.5" midrange driver and injection-molded diaphragm results in surprising well blended sound
-Very good high frequency capabilities; less capable with low frequencies but was designed to be pared with a separate subwoofer
-High quality, solid construction made of molded high-density resin
-Beautiful piano-black resin = lots of fingerprints
-Best for small to mid-sized rooms
-I carefully compared the TL1s to the more expensive (larger speaker, tweeter & driver ) Polk Satellite TL2's in the same...

Cerwin-Vega VE-5C 2-Way Home Audio Center Channel Speaker (Each, Black)
The most crucial element in any home theater system, the Cerwin-Vega VE Series 2-way Center Channel delivers 150W of power handling from 60 Hz to 20 kHz for precise dialogue reproduction.

The most underrated speaker in the HT setup
You have the big front/lefts, you have the big 15" subwoofer that rattles the street, you have the 25 different surrounds all mounted on your wall, you have the 1000watt+ HT receiver tuned just perfectly. You think you got it all figured out... until you skimp on the center channel. Now your left scratching your head wondering why the voices are low, action scenes are insanely blaring, and theres just an overall unevenness in all your movies.

If you find yourself turning up the movie/show during dialog and then turning it down during action, It's time to get a real center, dump the satellite speakers that pretends it can accurately reproduce movie soundtrack and voice dialog, most of them fail.

Insert 70 dollar Cerwin Vega ve-5c. This speaker brought out the sounds in movies I knew were getting drowned out by the incompetence of a satellite speaker. Although the center doesn't handle bass, for giggles I set it to large and watched some intense action scenes from...

Hidden Gem Of The Home Theater
If you search for center channel reviews chances are that you will come up with Bose, Polk, Sony before you find any mention of Cerwin Verga and yet this is what I consider the hidden gem of the home theater. From craftsmanship to it's sound reproduction this speaker is second to none in my opinion. I have owned Bose, Polk and Sony and none of them come close to this Vega in accurate sound reproduction when it comes to movie dialogue. It is inexpensive when ordered directly from amazon. The size is right too making it possible to fit in tight spaces without sacrificing sound quality.
Great deal for the price.
If you are looking for a best bang for your buck deal this will be a great find for you. Has good weight to it nice and is very sturdy. The highs are not very very crisp but do sound pretty good. Since a center channel is mostly for dialog this will not hurt your sound quality anyway. You need a center that can play the right bass tones in voices that is loud enough to keep up with your other surround sound speakers. I have 2 three way Sony floor standing speakers piggy backed meaning running with two satellite speakers for my front channels. This is a total of 12 speakers for my fronts. I have two three ways for my rear and a 12" Sub that holds the low end very well. I bought this to replace my center channel that just could not keep up during my movies. I did not want to spend a ton since I have spent quite a bit already. This was a great buy and I would recommend it to anyone. This center truly made the difference in my movies making my system sound pretty close to theater loud. I...

DEEP value
this is exactly what all the previous reviews said it was......a truly deep value for money. the bass is as deep as could be without noticeable distortion and it is clean looking enough to pass the wife's scrutiny. i am a music buff and i find the bass production to be just as good as the very, very good sony sf 6000 front speakers i use. however the big advantage with this unit is when watching movies.....5.1, 3.1 or 2.1, the bass is way deeper than you can get with the big front speakers. the difference is really dramatic, even to a new comer's ears.

it should be also noted that the unit DOES have an auto off function (not described on Amazon) which can be disabled at the back. this is great, except when actually watching a movie because it shuts of within 5 mins if it does not receive a low bass signal from the amps, so during dialogue it sleeps in low power and then has a delayed restart when the bass returns.

i use my sub in a large room and you really have...

Finishing touch for your budget AV system!!! "daddyO702"
For the past 10 years I have owned a Sony Home Theater in a Box kind of setup sufficing to say I'm not much hard to please for home entertainment (had a quick review bout here too @ Epinions). Three years ago I paired the same Sony HTIB with a 37" LG LCD TV and it was good. Can see the movie, "hear" the movie and go watch the next movie.

Guess now things have changed, a lot. Electronics are much more affordable with a considerable amount of difference. Like this Sony SA-W3000 for example. As a regular Joe Shmoe audiophile wannabe dude, I did my only way of randomly testing this sub, of course, at your local electronics depot (blue shirt, khaki pants guys). It wasn't even very accurate the fact that I tested it's lower model sibling, the SA-W2500 which is rated 100 with 60 watts RMS.

Most of us are familiar with their setup with all the buttons you push pairing different speakers and subs trying to win your heart on what they can do. So push I did and I got me a...
super sub
This sub suprisingly performs better than I expected. The easy of installing and variable frequency adjustment work with easy. Sounds great for the money invested. I have purchased high end subs, in the $2000.00 range and though there are noticeable differences, this sub is great bang for little bucks.

Very happy to get this speaker at discount
I have been on the prowl looking for a low-profile (less than 5-inch high) center-channel speaker for about a year after I bought an Onkyo RC360 receiver. I have a pair of hand-me-down floor-standing speakers which has a full ensemble of tweeter-midrange-woofers to provide a full range of sound. The problem is that dialogues in movies are very weak. Nothing I could do with the sparse settings on the RC360 can alleviate this. If I turn the volume up to hear dialog, the bass and the explosion caused my neighbors to complain. The answer is to find a decent center channel that can be placed in front of my Sony LCD TV. I finally saw Amazon offering the TL1 with a decent 25% discount over retail (this speaker rarely goes on sale). I bought it and it arrived 3 days later. I plugged it in and did a little calibration using my RC360 Audyssey microphone. The level calibration gave -9dB for the front main speakers and -4dB for the center TL1. I plugged in some Blu-ray movies and rented...

Great for the money and small size
I tried this speaker against several other Polks in this price range. It produced nice clear dialogue and had decent low-mid response as well. It also blended well with my other speakers and created a nice smooth L-C-R image, despite the fact that my living room is irregularly shaped and I can't place the speakers properly. I'm using it with a Yamaha RX-667 receiver, and I tried the RM8 and TL2 as well before I settled on this one. All three have a nice build quality and a bit of heft to them (i.e. they don't feel cheap) but this suited my ears the best. Keep in mind you're not going to be blown away by the sound, it's a fairly small speaker. But for price and size (it fits anywhere and looks nice) this is a great buy.
Bose who?
This speaker sounds great with decent bass response for a small speaker. I have a cs2 polk center and this one holds it own well in a small room.

great surrounds, crystal clear
I recently purchased the whole 41 II package which includes the 42 II center speaker, 41 II bookshelf, and 41 II surrounds. I added 2 more 41 II bookshelf speakers for 7.1 surround sound. I am very happy with my purchase. The sound is SO CLEAR.

I had an Onkyo 6300 HTIB system with the intention of upgrading my speakers, when the receiver decided to die on me. I ended up getting rid of it and getting a Denon 1911 receiver. Once the receiver was hooked up I decided to go ahead and upgrade the speakers as well. I kept the onkyo subwoofer and after much research decided to go with the Klipsch Reference 41 II series. It was kind of a shot in the dark because I couldn't find any reviews on them and no stores in my area carried them. I know klipsch is a good brand but I was a litle worried when I would read reviews that would say the sound can be too bright and may cause ear fatigue. That is not the case with these speakers! They are super clear, great highs, great mids, you hear...
