Value Subwoofer
I bought this subwoofer to replace a blown JBL sub. It is a nice sub for the money, but it does not come close in comparison. The 350 watts are seem to be a stretch in actual use. I have a 100 watt Optimus sub that out performs it, in my opinion. It is not a bad sub, but not what you'd expect for 350 watts. It is smaller and much lighter than I expected, also. I probably rate it a 3.5, but give it a 4, because of its price.

Great Sound From A Small Speaker!
When I was looking for 2 sets of speakers for my new deck cover, and 4-Season Room, I listened to many speakers. The Klipsch 1650-C won the sound tests for me, but the real test comes when you open the box and discover what you really bought... The Klipsch speakers were obviously well built, and easy to install, with well thought out quality features for easy installation. I was also impressed with the durability of the speakers since I was using these both for inside and outside applications.

After the installation, the real test for me was on... How do they sound? Wow! They blew me away. I could not believe the full range ability from such a small speaker, and at low and high volume, with no distortion. The really impressive part for me was the dynamics. The tweeter is outstanding and has stunning clarity.

Took a chance at buying this and so far pretty happy
I looked everywhere and could not find a review on this subwoofer. I found a couple mentions here and there but no reviews. I was able to purchase direct for a cheaper price that included shipping.

I wanted a subwoofer for 2 reasons:

Put it under our couch

Received it within a couple of days and arrived in its own box. Packaged well and was honestly impressed with everything. Has a nice smooth finish and feels well built. RCA cables feel a bit cheap but they included right angle plugs which you really need to use since the box is so low to the ground. 8 inch subwoofer and is ported.

RCA Cables (right angle on one end)
"Y" RCA Adapter

You definitely get what you pay for, too bad..
I gave it two stars because I liked the shape and design, otherwise it deserves one star. The sub vibrates and resonates internally in the upper xover range (if you allow it to play 90hz or higher, it plays up to 140hz). Even at lower frequency there is still internal resonance rattle. The problem is the amp board does not have epoxied components so they all rattle from the bass- the amp innards sit inside the sub cabinet ported chamber area. The other problem is the sub cabinet is made of very thin pressboard, and it is not stiff or dense enough for a sub cabinet. Also, the screws that hold the amp board into the cabinet cannot be tightened enough without stripping, due to the poor quality paper-like pressboard cabinet material (it just does not hold screws well!)

In short, this sub will not sound good at louder volumes- You'll hear sounds from the sub cabinet itself instead of just hearing the bass. I was very hopeful on this as I love the slim case design. My...
Great low-profile sub for the money
I purchased this sub to replace a large NHT subwoofer that was taking up a corner of our living room. I wanted something I could hide under or behind the couch and the New Black SUB8S fit the bill. I have it standing up with the provided stands between the coach and wall.

With its variable volume, auto-shut off, and frequency cut-off control it has all the features my old NHT woofer had. When it comes to sound, it does what I need for it to do--it thumps and rumbles when I watch FIOS or play the PS3. I am not trying to have a rock concert in my living room. I just want full sound and this delivers.

The woofer did come with a few bunged corners, but no one will ever see this thing.

For the price, this is a great option for you if you want full sound without having a big sub-woofer box taking up space.

A Steal at This Price Range
The CNET editors hit it right on the money by wholeheartedly recommending these speakers in their reviews. I picked up a pair of these speakers locally since I did find them a tad cheaper but, due to the lack of online reviews, felt like I could put in my two cents.

For starters, these speakers do appear large if you're used to the more lifestyle-oriented systems or HTIB-type satellites, but if you're used to having a proper bookshelf-type speaker, the size will not be intimidating. My wife and I are using this in a 2.0-channel setup in our 15x10' bedroom and they do not overwhelm the space. Build quality is superb and, if you hadn't told me that there were faux wood, I wouldn't be able to know the difference. They do succeed quite well at the "knock test." Binding post construction is solid and, upon initial inspection, I have a feeling that as long as I care for these speakers, they can last well into 20-30 years.

Even at low volumes, sound quality is very good...

Great Speakers, Great Price
I think the title of my review says a lot. These are very good sounding speakers, much better sounding then their price tag. I have had a lot of budget priced speakers over the years and can say that these by far sound the best. The sound coming from them mimics a much higher priced speaker system both budget priced and high end. I have never had a $1,000 plus pair of speakers before so could not compare directly to how they would sound compared to this. Based on the reviews I have read from professionals who have there is not as many compromises in sound as you would expect.

The big difference with these is that the sensitivity is only 84db. Higher end systems, and a lot of budget priced ones have higher sensitivity. I have some Klipsch Quintets that are around 90db so they play louder at equal volume, but the sound is not as good. I have found I do not play these louder on my receivers volume level then I do other speakers I have owned. Volume is only good though if...

These speakers sound excellent. I've read some reviews complaining about the way they look. I like the way they look. Some have said they are too big, but they are fine in a bigger room and that probably contributes to the good sound. I would recommend them for a bigger room. I have them setup on a surround sound system and I am very happy with them.

Awesome for the price.
This is my first center channel speaker. I am not an audio-file, but it sound's great in my budget 5.1 system. The price could not be beat. It only took three days to get to me as well.
Plays nice...
Full disclosure... I am not an "audiophile" and my main requirements for my surround sound system is that I can watch television and movies without much hassle and where I can actually hear what is going on in the dialog and effects.

I looked for a low-cost alternative to the packaged cigarrette-box-sized center channel speaker that came with my system. I wanted something that matched my Boston Acoustics left and right chanel speakers and that gave me audible dialog and sound effects for television and movie watching. I got all those things.

I can now hear the dialog without turning up the sound to levels that hurt the ears. The speaker box, in all its black plainness is just what I was looking for appearance wise. It fits my system and plays nicely.

My one criticism is the connector for the speaker wires. It is horrible! I understand that on lower cost audio components that one is not going to get "gold plated" high level...

Perfect solution for the stereo listener looking for digital inputs!
I used the HK 3480 (the precursor to this model) for five years and loved it. The 3490 is even better. The sound is more robust and full, not different, but just more refined. It easily powers my Klipsch Synergy speakers and would pair well with any mid-level speakers. With 120w even inefficient speakers will have more than a enough power to move air.

Further, the 3490 has an important new feature: digital inputs. This is a very nice option for those who have made the jump to an all digital music library and use a digital jukeboxes like the Roku Soundbridge or the Squeezebox. Both players have digital outs and pair up nicely with the 3490.

The difference in quality from digital inputs or analog is debatable, but to my ear, going from the 3480 with analog cables, to the 3490 with optical TOSLINK, there was an immediately improvement in clarity. Stunning! But Unexpectedly Short Life Span :(
I've owned my previous HK receiver for over 15 years, and it still works wonderfully. I wanted to upgrade to more power and features, so my old receiver will be relocating to my basement. First off, the HK 3490 is absolutely stunning. I've always been a fan of HK's commitment to minimalism but this receiver takes it to a new and beautiful level. The one horizontal row of slim buttons is not visible at all when standing a few feet away, creating the appearance of a completely buttonless perfect space, but when you're standing at the receiver, each button is clearly visible for easy operation. When turned on, the white glow of the power light and volume knob is very cool; the reading is clear, but along with the volume knob light, it can be dimmed or shut off. When turned off, the power light glows red. The sound is amazing. Nice two channel solution with digital options
I formally owned a Rotel RX-1050 and decided to give the 3490 a try. I really prefer a nice 2 channel amp to drive my B&H 603's and the HK does the job well. What I liked that you won't find in other 2 channel amps is two digital in's, xm ready, ipod integration and 2x sub out. For the price you really can't beat it. The size is about 33% larger than my Rotel. The power about 25% more.
The controls of course are very limited, source+balance+tone. No EQ.
The phono amp provided hum free sound from my Tech. 1200.
I will mention that the Bridge I device has some problems with this new amp. HK told me that the manual has a typo when they said the Bridge I would work with this device and I have to wait until the Bridge II is released in September.
My only other small complaint is the device has composite out for video. Why bother? This would have been a home run with component/DVI or HDMI out. Doesn't seem like it would have added that much to the price to add a HD...

Great Sub. Wow!!
I've recently purchased the Pinnacle 10" sub to replace the existing 7" Aiwa sub that I had for dozen plus years. It's not fair to compare the two units, but the 10" just blows it away. Even with the volume at mid setting, it's plenty loud for the home theater system in my family room (approx 15x25 ft). 200W is plenty plenty! Sound is very very full, without any distortions. Overall workmanship is very good, brass feet is a nice touch (for obvious audio purposes). On the back of the sub, there's only frequency control, level control, and phase switch. Please note that there's only the RCA plug for Subwoofer (LFE) connection. It won't work out of the box, unless your audio system has direct subwoofer connection. As for me, I've upgraded my stereo with AV Receiver (Onkyo TX-SR508) as my stereo did not have LFE output.

Surprising Sound!
I have a small house. The subwoofer that this one is replacing is a huge 15 inch sub I bought way back in the 1970s. It was simply too big for the room and I always wanted to replace it with something smaller I could hide away. This Pinnacle 10 inch subwoofer was featured during Black Friday and had a price I couldn't resist. As usual, the product arrived quickly from Amazon. It took very little time to set it up. LOVE the brass cone legs it uses for both looks and functionality (better sound, less "boominess"). I was able to hide it behind one of my main front speakers. For a 10 inch sub, this goes deep. Not quite as deep as my old 15 inch, BUT it has better upper frequency bass than my 15 inch sub had (remember it was very old - I'm sure new 15 inch subs are awesome). As the last three weeks have gone by the Pinnacle has actually improved and sounds smoother than it first did - all subs need to be used before they perform at their peak. I have watched all kinds of movies...

I am not sure about this subwoofer. It often seems to sound "mushy" but sometimes it definitely shakes the room. I got it during the Amazon holiday sale so it was a very good price. Then I noticed over the next 3 weeks Amazon lowered its "regular" price about $200.00 in small steps and then added $100.00 back to it. It is still selling at about $375.00. Also, it has hard to find reviews for Pinnacle speakers and, so far at least, it has been impossible to get its full specifications such as how much power it draws when it is not in use (it has no "on/off" switch --- you have to unplug it to turn it off).

Awesome subwoofer with Audioengine A5
Have them setup with my Audioengine A5's, really fills the missing low end bass. Awesome low end for a decent 2.1 sound with my 6 year old PC inside my room that has solid wood flooring. I did the usual break in, playing music not too loud, etc. After about a couple of weeks it really opened up with the Audioengine speakers, nice.
Saw this inside the store as an open box and decided it's worth trying out since I can always return it after a trial period. Built solid and nice smooth finish, too. After using it for a month I have decided it's a keeper. But YMMV. For the price I paid I'd say it's a good buy.

SW-8 has a built in hum
Bought this sub (SW-8) over a month ago and returned the first one for having a hum, even when nothing was plugged in to it. The second one had about the same hum and I worked with four different people at Pioneer to see about returning again or getting a small adjustment on the price for a defective product. I was finally advised by a tech support person that the hum was NORMAL on this model sub woofer. In all fairness to pioneer support, they did finally agree to a full refund if I so desired. Truth of the matter is, this is a great sounding woofer (if you don't mind a hum in quiet times One thing I did to make it better was to position on a side wall so that the port on front was not facing me. This helped a lot. It still hums but it doesn't bother me now. Also worth noting is that it runs pretty warm to the touch, even in standby mode. I've had Pioneer's SW-8 Powered Subwoofer for over a week and it's the final piece for a home theater set up I have consisting of Sony Tower speakers and Polk Center Channel speaker. Pioneer's SW-8 Subwoofer is off the charts. Over the weekend I had a chance to really see how good it is and

Setting it up was simple. There's a lil blue light indicating when it's on. There's an auto setting that kicks in when bass is detected, I haven't paid attention to it. It has a separate volume control.
Input options include RCA & the typical wire inputs. There are separate Phase & Frequency controls allowing for you to customized your setup.

No Name Sub = Awesome Performance
Already the owner of a 12", brand name sub rated 300/450, with no reviews on this 15", sub yet rated 400/600, I took the jump. Glad I did though the low price warned me, this was to good to be true. Boy, was I wrong. Even at this low price, the unit looks nice, is well built and has all the connections and settings you would expect in something costing 3Xs more including an "auto on", where as the sub is plugged in and connected but won't turn on until enough power is sent to it by its source.

Any sub worth its salt will bring out the bass in most genres of music where you aren't just hearing the sound, but feeling it. This sub works to perfection at that and is much stronger than my brand name sub. The first time I listened to electronic, dubstep/brostep or the artist, Skrillex, I found out just how clean and heavy the bass is that this sub provides.

Excellent product. Arrived quickly, setup even faster. The high level line inputs made it very easy to augment my existing sound system. Provides a very (very) clean bass sound, regardless if you're listening to music or movie explosions. Would definitely recommend, and will likely buy again.

Good buy, nice amp
This Sherwood (noted brand years ago, now mysterious) might be a decent bargain for twice the money. It's stripped down by present standards -- two channels only, no phonograph input. It's dead quiet and extremely clean sounding. I can't hear any emphases or dead spots in the frequencies. The tuner is exceptionally good; I am surprised at the success I'm having with it in a poor reception area, with only the antennas that are supplied. Appearance and quality are fine: nice black steel case, solid buttons, one big old volume knob. It was all I needed, so I'm very pleased. Going to get another for a computer amp.

Sound Value
Sherwood was a manufacture of mid quality, tube type audio devices during my childhood- a long time ago. A typical two channel, tube type AM/FM stereo receiver made 30 RMS watts per channel and cost around $200. By those standards, today's Sherwood RX- 4103 making more than three times the power at half the cost is an outstanding value.

This is an attractive, cool running, although quite large and heavy, receiver. The display is functional and easy to read. The controls are well marked and easy to understand and use. The remote control buttons are readable by my ancient eyes and offer a number of desirable functions. My only complaint with the packaging of this unit is the size and weight. For some reason, Sherwood used a massive power supply transformer which requires a large enclosure and makes the unit heavy. Why didn't they employ a switching power supply and cut the size and weight by 2/3?

If you want a straight forward stereo receiver costing the least amount of dollars, then Sherwood Rx-4105 receiver fits the bill pretty well.

It has AM/FM, and 30 station presets. External connection wise it supports Tape, VCR, CD, and TV. (no phono support)

Its construction is sturdy and heavy. Sound quality appears very clean sounding. FM reception is average. Weak stations need the use of a good antenna to pull in the signal.

Good output. Automatic power on.
I bought a Toshiba 40" LCD HDTV several years ago when it was on sale with a very good price (at that time). Then I realize the sound quality of it is really bad as a result of cutting cost. I found this sound bar and the Vizio one on sale at around the same price 2 years ago. After comparing the style and reviews, I decided to keep this Samsung one. I am using the optical output from the TV to connect to the sound bar. It has 2 optical digital and 1 analog input. The mounting is easy. I like its autopower on/off function a lot. When it sees a digital audio input, it will turn itself on within a couple seconds. It will return to standby when there is no audio input for a while. The sound quality is much better than the built-in speaker on the TV and is comparable to my previous 5.1 sound system. In a 400sqft living room, I rarely need to turn it above vol 20. The 3D mode add the depth of sound effect nicely. It may not be the best sound bar, but it seems to be among the top tiers...

Great Sound, but Riddled with Glitches and Oversights
I was in the market for a soundbar for the game room in the new home I'm purchasing. After researching all the reviews, I decided to go with the SB 16. First things first: The sound is amazing. The faux surround really is impressive and the shape of the room doesn't matter. The sub has adjustable crossover and a phase switch, so you can find that perfect sweet spot for your room. $600 sounds steep, but you are getting a lot for your money.

Now for the bad news: I wondered why I never saw any negative reviews for this thing, and I think it is because the system is too new and the problems have not yet been exposed. The sub is wireless so you can place it anywhere in the room. I've been reading a lot about these wireless sub systems and didn't think much of it until I got it home. My apartment is abound with wireless devices: 2 iPhones, a Kindle, Macbook, iMac, PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii are all pulling from wifi. I know that's excessive, but I'm a gadget lover. Well...

Harman Kardon SB16...Extremely Happy...No regrets!!!

We received our Harman Kardon SB16 last night. Be warned, the box the system is delivered in is HUGE! Once opened, you will find two main boxes, one containing the sound bar and a second containing the subwoofer. In a matter of 15 minutes, we had the system unboxed, powered, and wired directly to our TV via the provided optical cable. There's an RCA cable and brackets to mount the sound bar, which we didn't use.

The next step was programming the remote, which was quirky due to (unfortunately) user error. I tried to program our DirecTV remote which was an utter fail (I concluded that this was due to its "Universal" nature). Grabbed our Samsung remote and I had it programmed in about 10 minutes. Once the unit was programmed, it learned the signal from our DirecTV remote...
Warning--Issue on Audio Decoding Abilities on Optical Hook Up
Wow, this units could have been amazing except for one key fatal flaw. Beware!!!! When I hooked it up to my TV, I wanted to use the Digital Optical link. I tried both the analog and digital. The digital sounded much better.

In using the SB16, I realized it won't work for any of my digital TV channels(it worked for standard analog channels) via the optical link. In talking with both customer service for Harman Kardon and my TV manufacturer, the problem was clear. The SB16 is designed to only decode PCM audio data via the optical link. It fails to be able to decode 5.1 signals.

The extremely smug tool I talked with at Harman stated....it isn't a surround sound unit. Yes, it isn't, but when the signal from the TV is 5.1, it should be able to decode. In this case, the 5.1 is the format for the data streaming into the SB16. It should be able to handle data in both the PCM and 5.1 format. Harman's answer was that I should downgrade my TV so everything is just PCM. My...

Great but beware
The product was easy to set up and it sounds great that is until the sound cuts off on you. The very first time I hooked this up I was watching Battle LA which is a great movie to test your surround sound. I had it on volume 25 on the PL Movie surround sound setting. It has great bass and the speakers are crisp and clear. After about 5 seconds of constant rumbling from the movie the sound cut off. I turned it off and back on and it worked so I thought it was nothing. Well in order for it to work I had to have the volume lower than 25 which does not serve a good purpose as a surround sound system. The level goes up to 32 so 25 wasn't that bad. I looked the product up on google and many people have the same problem. They think it is overheating but I think it's a manufacturing problem. I am talking to Sony right now to see what they say. If they can't help me I will return it. I only had it one month but this has been happening since the unboxing on the first night.

Loud and Clear
I just love this theater system, I have it connected to a sony 55 inch led tv and a sony blu bray player. Everything seems to work well together. The whole arrangement is connected by hdmi cables and as far as sound quality with the volume turned up to around 22 its like being in a movie theater. you could probably find a more expensive system but for some one wanting a good sounding system this is a steal for the price. Also remember to get an optical cable because you will need one, I bought one at best buy for 16 bucks.

I bought this for my boyfriend for christmas. Hook up was easy, sounds great. Only issue i have had is the cd not being read i had to turn off and on 3 or 4 times and it worked perfect. the speakers are good as well, some stations/movies/shows are not in 5.0 audio so not all the speakers work just the main ones. other than that we are happy with the system.
