Virtually Invisible® 791 in-ceiling speakers Big Discount

Experience the best performance Bose offers in an in-ceiling speaker. Virtually Invisible® 791 speakers are engineered to reproduce lifelike sound with more spaciousness, detail and depth than conventional in-ceiling speakers. Bose® Stereo Everywhere® speaker performance delivers sound evenly throughout the listening area. Installation is easy and the flush-mount design blends seamlessly into the ceiling.

The combination of two tweeters and a 7" woofer provides spacious stereo sound for your favorite music. You'll also enjoy the deep low notes of dramatic movie sound effects. This makes 791 speakers ideal for a rear-channel option in a home theater setup.

The tweeters are strategically positioned to eliminate the need to aim the speakers into the room. The end result is Stereo Everywhere® speaker performance, with balanced stereo sound wherever you listen, not just in one "sweet spot."

The sound stands out. The speakers blend in.

Installing 791 speakers is easy--four clamp screws secure each speaker to the ceiling. The infinite baffle design eliminates the need for a separate speaker enclosure--it uses the space above the ceiling instead. Once you've positioned the speakers, just tighten the clamp screws and twist the grilles into place. The finish is as elegant as it is unobtrusive. You can even paint the speaker grilles to match your décor.

For the same price I've heard much better
I give everything a fair chance and have been in the music industry for 10 years and sold retail and custom integration products for over 7 years now. These speakers don't sound horrible by any means, but you don't get what you pay for and that is the bottom line. I put them up against the B&W (Bowers & Wilkins) CCM65's for $550/pr. (the Bose 791's are $600) and they blow them away. If Bose really does want to make whats considered a high-end speaker they need to do some more work. Most people consider any in-ceiling speaker costing them over $350/pr. an (audiophile) or high-performance speaker. Bose needs to either lower their price or greatly improve their performance.

Very good speakers
These sound really good with my other surround sound speakers. They replaced a good pair of 301 Bose speakers that we were using for front speakers with our system. They also sound great with music. The installation was very easy sense I already had wires ran into the ceiling. There is a trick when aligning the speakers. They have arrows that must face each other to insure the teweeters are in the proper position. I am not a pro like the last reviewer, we just enjoy beautiful music and excellent sound in our surround sound. We did listen to several other speakers in displays at the electronics show in Vegas before we bought these and there were some better, but not in this price range. There were some as good as these Bose in this price range but we went Bose because we have enjoyed their systems in the past and they have always been good. We are very happy with these speakers.
Good sound
These speakers are very nice for ceiling speaker! Great instrument and voice seperation, with no distoroation at all at high volumes. Very easy to install. The wide terriable spread works very well from the two angles tewtters. The only word of warning is they do not have massive bass, so if your are expecting "sub woofer" style bass- such as in the AM3 or AM5 you will be disappoitned, if not; you'll love these. I use them both as a speaker "B" and as a souround speaker at whcih there are more then perfect, easpcially when you think there are many bose sourround systems desinged with just a single cube for the rear channels each, this is step above those for sure. The face grill is as level as you could get to the ceiling surface and looks very stylish. No regrets here.

Don't live up to marketing hype.
Below is my initial review of these speakers. It's still basically true, but as the frustration with the initial install has faded, my estimation of the speakers has risen (a little). What seemed a thin and limited sound at the time now seems very clean. Just with very little bass compared to some other speakers. When things break on install, you do have to wonder, "who's fault was it, really...". I'll just say that the other speakers I bought at the same time had a much heavier set of clips...
----------
I am extremely disappointed with these speakers. If you read the product description carefully, you are basically getting a pair of smallish 2.5 in drivers / speakers which are only capable of a thin, limited sound. All the rest ("Virtually Invisible", "Articulated Array configuration", "Stereo Everywhere", "proprietary ported enclosure" etc.) is great marketing, but it does little to improve the sound of the speakers and a lot to increase the cost. There is no Bose...

Great for home theater, poor for whole-house audio
I've had these speakers for 3 years in a whole-house audio setup as in-ceiling speakers. The clarity as you'd expect from Bose is great, however if you want good bass response nothing compares to a large woofer. I'm actually in the process of replacing 2 out of 3 pairs with typical in-ceiling 8" woofers to get more bass in my living room and bedroom with high ceilings.

I highly recommend these for in-wall home theater speakers with a separate subwoofer.

I do not recommend these for in-ceiling stereo speakers.
In-the-wall speakers
These were a husbandly-compromise, as my wife was adamant about not having a big bass unit in the newly refurbished living room. They're not quite as great as advertised, especially on the bass, but they do have as small a profile as you could want, especially if you paint the grills (and you get a choice of round or rectangular) the same color as the wall. The only objection is that although I used the Bose mounting plates before sheetrocking, they do not lie absolutely flush with the wall. However, the sound is pretty good, all things considered.

Product Features :

• Paintable flush-mount design for in-wall, in-ceiling installation
• Articulated Array® speaker design
• Stereo Everywhere® speaker performance
