Your only choice for a 11.2 DSX Audyessy XT32 reciever.
It's pretty simple. If you want Audyessy MultiEQ XT32 and their 11.2 DSX, this is the only thing on the planet that has it.
Fortunatly, it's a very high-quality device, made in Japan. Denon's lower end models are made in China. There is a difference.
Besides the big Audyessy features, there are some other nice things about this beast. The amplifier section is very high quality. A recent bench test found it puts out over 170w per channel in stereo and 120w with 5 channels driven. In comparison, the Onkyo 5008, a bigger, heavier reciever and probably the 4311's most direct competitor only put out 80w per channel with 5 channels driven in the same test. So if you need some power, this thing probably has enough. If it doesn't, though, it has preouts for all 13 channels AND Zones 2 & 3. That's 17 preamp outputs people! 17! Buy now! Don't wait!
Another nice thing is the Web interface and the on-screen GUI. These features let you hide this away in a closet or...

Great Sound, poor user interface
History, I was using an old Kenwood for the last 15 years, Dolby pro Logic, it was running with 120 watts per channel. I know wattage isn't everything, but for us non audio experts its a good point of reference. I will do my best to be short, there is a lot to say about a system like this.

The is a wonderful sounding system and is certainly over kill for almost everyone, and if not, your probably hooking up external amps to it and making it over kill. It has more wattage then what I can use, on the volume scale -80 to +18, I'm running -50 to about -30 most of the time. The system is probably meant for much larger rooms then what I have it installed in, 16x20, but even in this room size it sounds fantastic, partly do to the Audyessy System I would think.

I currently have it set up for 9.1, I had most of the speakers on hand from the Kenwood 5.1 system, and oddly enough the speakers sound better then they ever did on the old Kenwood. The old speakers don't...
Excellent Replacement for a Rotel
The Denon replaced a Rotel RSX-1067. I was a bit cautious in this decision as I have been fairly loyal to the Rotel brand. However, given the features, capabilities and, power of the Denon I decided to tryout the AVR. Needless to say this receiver has definitely proven itself more that worthy upgrade in the last three weeks since installation.
'Audyssey MultEQ is a an outstanding audio room setup feature...
Anyone considering an upgrade this receiver should be on the short list for consideration.

Great Network-Ready AV Receiver
I've owned this AV receiver for a couple weeks now and am quite happy with its performance. I opted to network it by connecting it via Cat6 cable to an 8-port Gigabit network switch, which is then connected to a universal WiFi adapter that is connected to the 5-GHz band on my dual-band WiFi router. I have been able to stream Pandora, Internet radio (vTuner), and audio/video via AirPlay from my MacBook Pro with iTunes without issue.

I can confirm that the user interface experience is a bit dull (e.g. grey, no on-screen keyboard, etc), but it functions well enough, so I can't complain. I have other devices (e.g. Roku 2) with better interfaces that I'll likely continue to do most of my streaming from. The HDMI overlay setup menu is an independent mode, but I'm not sure why others are finding that to be a fault as I would not want a video stream to be playing in the background while I was trying to read the white text of the setup menu and make changes.

I was a...

Excellent Receiver
Okay so I received mine and have been using now for about 3 weeks. This unit is fantastic. Every feature it claims to support, it does in fact support. Sound from the unit is more crisp than other receivers I have used in the past (mainly Onkyo). I bundled it with a Polk audio RM510 5.1 speaker system for $450 on Newegg.com (a total steal considering the receiver itself is $400). It shows how to use the Pandora directly in the users manual, no internet searching necessary. I would hardly consider this an "incomplete product" because it has more features than I even bargained for, like midnight mode. Midnight mode is great if you live in a dorm/apartment and want all the dialogue loud in the movie but don't want the action scenes waking up your neighbors. If you are like me I used to watch movies late with the volume remote in my hand and constantly adjusted throughout the entire movie. Bottom line, this S. R. Lingala guy has no idea what he is talking about.
Very Satisfied Customer
I have had my Pioneer VSX-1122-K for about a week now, and I love it. My previous receiver was a Pioneer VSX - 1021-K, and I had allot of HDMI handshaking issue's as well as a few other bugs that were very frustrating. Given all the issues I encountered with my previous receiver, I was hesitant to get another Pioneer. I am happy to say that I have NO issues with the VSX-1122-K at all! The handshaking issues are gone, and I have NOT encountred any bugs. The overall quality of the VSX-1122-K seems to be far superior to that of the previous model year. The Airplay feature is awesome and makes listening to my favorite music easy and convenient. The 2012 Icontrol application for the Ipad is very cool and allows you to turn up the bass or dilague during movies and TV shows without having to change any settings on the actual receiver. This model has a front HDMI port that allows me to hook up my HD video Camera without having to climb behind the TV stand with a flashlight. Pioneer...

Denon AVR-2312CI Receiver
I have been using this for almost a month now and loving it. I upgraded my 10+ year old Sony surround system that came with mini satellite speakers. I now realize how much better it is with full powered satellite speakers and a large center speaker. You can really fill the entire room up with sound equally from all speakers as long as you keep all your speakers the same size and power rating. I had a hard time hearing the dialog with small center speaker but not with this setup. I picked this over the Pioneer and other lower end Denon models as it came with 3 year warranty, a front access HDMI port and most importantly Airplay. What a kick to play music right off my Iphone or my Ipad. It has a second zone that I will be using for my outdoor speakers near the pool area. I am still using my older Sony KF-50WE610 with HDMI - DVI cable, also using my PS3 to stream movies from Netflix or play Blue-Ray movies. 4 Polk RC85i in-wall speakers and Polk CS20 center speaker, will add a subwoofer...

Wireless Integration: AVR-2312CI
If you want wireless play integration from multiple devices, this is the receiver. The player itself took a while to setup out of the box - it is comprehensive but not complicated. I have not yet used the "setup microphone" for the recommended speaker setup. However, it is already great sounding when compared to my Onkyo HT-R540. With a receiver like this, I decided to install the speakers inside the wall in specific locations and then do the recommended setup.

The response from the Denon receiver was slow; however, its now resolved with the firmware update.

1. I-Phone Integration: Seamless wireless playback using the "Denon Airplay" app. Again, this feature seems to work better after firmware update. The airplay experiences intermittent pauses if battery is low on the iphone.

2. Windows Phone Integration: Seamless playback using "Connected Media" HTC app. App update (released 03/14/2012) required for wireless playback. No specific Denon App is...
Great sound, not great documentation
I upgraded my small home theater with this from a Yamaha rx-2700. The sound is a huge upgrade. You'll hear things you never knew were there. There are more than enough hdmi ports, and the form factor is beautiful. The Audessey speaker calibration feature and included mic are absolutely crucial and add a level of satisfaction with the unit that will blow your mind. Just one thing should you choose to order. Save yourself some time by checking your packaging closely for the Audessey calibration mic. I couldn't find it in the packaging and thought they'd left it out. I called Denon support and was told quickly to check the side of one of the big foam packaging pieces, and there it was, just as the support member indicated. It's kind of hidden in a little cutout on the side, so don't panic as I did.

The sound modes are plentiful and even the virtual surround modes for stereo content outshine my dts decoding on the old Yamaha unit. I use this mostly for movie content, so I can't...

Excellent product, great value!
I purchased my RX-V773 locally at a substantial discount ($200 off list price). The place I bought it from offers their own 30-day in-store return policy, although I would not hesitate to purchase from Amazon.

I would rate this unit 4 1/2 stars if I could. It's a very versatile receiver--2 of the 7 amplifier channels that can be assigned for something like a second zone (stereo only, obviously). The 5 HDMI inputs and dual oututs are a nice feature at this price point. I upgraded to this unit from an older model Marantz that did not have any HDMI inputs.

I had no problem with the Wi-Fi setup on my receiver. I followed the instructions using the push-button on the adapter and router. On the second try, it connected and has not dropped connection since. I enjoy the network features a lot. The receiver found my network hard drive (Twonky server). I was able to use my computer to quickly create some playlists and then play them flawlessly with the receiver...

FM tuner dead on arrival, but great receiver
I received my receiver about 6 weeks ago but I had to take it to an authorized repair shop in town (fortunately I'm not too far from one) because the FM receiver funtions are not working- no channels, no speakers recognized. I would have returned it to Amazon but I missed the 30 day return window by a day. I did have a chance to check out the web-based FM stations and I am pleased with the user interface for those stations- easy enough to navigate. The feature set on this product is excellent, and I will enjoy it very much as soon as I can get it back out of repairs. Combined with some of the other comments, I do wonder if the factory quality control is what it should be. More to come once I can check it out further.

Update- I got the receiver back and FM now works fine. But because the number of online FM stations via the net radio app is so large I haven't been listening to the local FM stations, and I also have enjoyed some of the TV audio streams (eg Frontline)...
Overall Very Nice
Overall I am very impressed with this receiver. One issue I would caution people is that I have a 20ft connection to my TV on HDMI 1 (ARC Primary - Samsung 55 LED), which works fine as it's cabled with the latest 1.4a HDMI standard cables and connectors. Over the weekend I tried to connect a second TV (Sony 44 LCD) to HDMI 2 and use Party Mode. All I would get is an occasional flicker of both screens. If I turned off one of the screens the other would perform as expected. My assumption that it didn't work was my long run of cable for HMDI 1. I'm assuming that both outputs have a common AMP which doesn't have enough power to feed both outputs successfully. So a word of caution to those who are buying this with the intent to actively drive 2 screens. There seems to be quite a bit of aftermarket HDMI Splitters and Amps on the market but I still am a bit disapointed this unit couldn't run 2 TVs at 25ft of total cable run!

Also, the first unit I received would not power up! I...

Excellent Package and Deal
I was planning on building my home theater around the NR609 and was having trouble finding a reasonably priced 5.1 speaker setup whether bundled or separate. To my surprise I find this setup at about half of what I was planning on spending. The setup sounds great and as expected the receiver is feature packed...for someone coming from an old Sony box without even HDMI this is a quantum leap. I have some cons below but I don't feel like any of them necessitate less than 5 stars, just wanted people to be aware. Also note I didn't even take the speaker wire out of the package as I bought 12awg wire and banana plugs right out of the gate.

Pros
-Price
-Receiver
-SiriuxXM and Spotify (among others) built in
-On Screen Display
-Sounds great out of the box
-Works with Onkyo AS140 speaker stands

Cons
-Speakers have spring clip terminals only
-Center channel lacks any sort of "stand" for being on it's side...seems it's the same...

WOW - Amazing!!
WOW!! That's about the best way to put it. I love my Onkyo HT-S7409. I spent over a year searching through reviews, websites, and stores and finally decided on this particular Onkyo product. The receiver supports 7.1 but the speaker package is a 5.1 setup which is more than enough for my application. The sound is crystal clear and has MORE than enough power to chase people from the room. Whether watching movies with big explosions, car chases, or outer space orchestrations this system can easily handle and exceed epectations. Deep booming bass, clear speech, and a THX certified reciever make this package well worth the money. I've read reviews and complaints about the provided stock speaker wire and can say that adequate amounts were provided for my particular application but you would need to purchase additional speaker wire for medium to large applications. My room is 13X14 and the provided speaker wire was sufficient.

The only downside that I have, if it's an...

Perfect for audio enthusiast
After reading a number of good and fairly good reviews, I decided to pick one of these up to replace my older Yamaha receiver. My other one had served me very well but it was time to move up to HDMI.

My criteria for a new receiver were the following:
- Ability to take all my input devices: PS3, XBOX360, XBOX, DVD Player
- One HDMI connection to the TV to avoid having to change TV's input back/forth
- At least a 5.1 system, with ability to go up to 7.1
- Ability to watch the inputs with the Receiver on or off
- Since my older Yamaha receiver had it, the ability to tune the speakers automatically

Reading the reviews, there were some comments about Yamaha having cut out the support for pre-out. As long as I was concerned, this receiver still has a "pre-out" for the sub-woofer and any other pre-outs aren't necessary. Pre-outs aren't needed for somebody who wants more than the basic home theater systems offer but is not an...

A Winner for a HT Enthusiast
Hello

We were in the market to replace our old (10+ yrs) but trusty Denon 1801 to move into a modern updated unit with the latest connections and mainly BR sound with DTS-HD and True-HD. Like the Denon I looked for reviews and mainly reader feedback. I picked at least one model from the mjor manufactures...Onkyo, Pioneer, Denon, Harmon Kardon and Yamaha. I came away with two out of the list..Yamaha RX-V667 and Denon AVR-891 (same as 2311CI). Both fit my list of needs and budget. I did look at the newer RX-V671 but being new was out of my price range. But the day I made my choice, which was the Denon 891, it went off sale. The next day a RX-V671 "open box" got listed at almost the same price and I grabbed it.

Yamaha's as long as I can remember alwy have had good sound. They don't get the same reconignition as Denon or the amount of mega reviews of Onko but they've alwys been fairly good. They made great strides since the 'RX-Vx65" series with the "x67" series...
Fantastic receiver
I bought this receiver recently after trying Yamaha v667 and Denon 2311CI. This one simply blew the other two away... particularly Denon, which to my ears didn't sound impressive.
Pros:
* stunning sound - crisp, clear. currently hooked up with Harman Kardon HTKS 30BQ
* quality onscreen menu, very easy to use
* network player, plays music from ipod, iphone and mp3 from usb flash drive
* 1080p upscale output, support for 3D and ARC

Yet to come across any con so far... I love this receiver a lot.

Beautiful sound!
After returning 2 failed (video problems) Onkyo TX NR609 receivers, I gave this Denon a try and am happy I did. It has gorgeous sound and was easy to set up and calibrate and has a wide array of features, including Apple Airplay.

Pros:

1) Beautiful sound! Dolby ProLogic IIz; 7 discrete amps!
2) 6 HDMI ports
3) 2 year warranty
3) Ease of setup; Audyssey automatic calibration of speakers with included microphone
4) "Airplay" for use with Apple products--this is very cool.
5) No need to buy expensive Wifi adapater. This will use any wireless bridge to allow you to connect to internet (I bought one for $50).
6) Pandora, Rhapsody, and Napster!
7) Attractive looking with rounded corners and matte black finish
8) On-screen menus and volume control (Pioneer does not have this feature)
9) USB port on front of receiver for Iphone or Ipod connection (using the Apple USB cord)

Cons:

1) Difficult to use...

Caveat Emptor, Non-Wireheads!
This is a little long, but I urge you to take the time and enjoy the journey. I have owned the Denon AVR-1912 for two months now and these are my reactions to using it on a daily basis: combined with an Energy Take Classic surround-sound system, it produces a full and nuanced spectrum of sound that represents solid value for the quality level. I especially enjoy the ability to play music through the amp from my networked MacBook Pro or my iPhone (although it occasionally cuts off a tune mid-song, particularly when I'm playing classical and the song has a natural orchestral pause, and the Denon sometimes has difficulty recognizing the computer or cell at all).

That said, the equally priced competitor that I considered, a Pioneer rated its peer by CNET, dropped by $200 at Amazon three weeks after I bought the Denon, and I strongly considered going through the hassle of a return but didn't. And why not? Because the set-up of this product was mind-bogglingly confusing and...
Upgrade from Denon AVR 591
I purchased this amp as it was time to upgrade based on the new speakers I recently ordered from Amazon. First of all I am running this receiver in a 7.1 configuration with my main speakers (FL, C, FR, SL, SR, and LFE) being the BIC Formula Line; the SBL and SBR are a pair of Bose 161's which will be replaced with BIC satellite speakers shortly...

This AVR I am replacing is a Denon AVR 591 which didn't quite push the BIC speakers where I needed them to be. The 591 uses preouts for adding SB or FH speakers in a 7.1 setup. To me, this just adds more clutter to a component rack which I really wanted to consolidate into a cleaner looking area.

The Denon AVR 1912 is definitely a decent upgrade for the money. I did not purchase this off amazon as Best Buy had it for the same price and with my rewards my price broke me right at MSRP This worked out for me as I get it have it today, instead of waiting a week to get it. Here are some thoughts I had on the amps...

Denon AVR3312CI Integrated Network A/V Surround Receiver
With a vast array of connections and its numerous output capabilities, the Denon AVR-3312CI is the receiver you want at the center of your home theater system. It features 7 channels each rated to output 125W of high-quality audio as well as network functionality including AirPlay and the Denon Remote App, and even auto setup with an included microphone. Plus it's backed by a three-year warranty!
With so many on offer these days, it is great to have a name you can trust. This item is certainly that and will be a perfect buy. The distributor have added some great touches and this equals great value.
You can trust this review, i hope you can try to buy this product and then you know this product good or no. Next time you can make a review for another people.

Good receiver but.....
For the first two weeks I thought the Denon AVR3312ci was a great upgrade from my 3 year old Marantz SR7002. Sound quality was very good and the extra power was impressive. The speaker setup (Mythos One mains, Mythos Eight center, Supercube II sub, Mythos Four surrounds, and Mythos Six rears) went well but the manual is very confusing when it comes to manually selecting different sound schemes (e.g. Dolby? TrueHD, DTS-HD(tm) Master Audio, Dolby? Digital Plus, DTS-HD(tm) High Resolution Audio, etc.) Whoever designed the remote needs a remedial class in basic principals of "user friendly" design.

Two days ago I connected the AVR3312ci to a Linksys bridge to enable connection to my home wireless network. That process went very well. Yesterday the receiver started a 40 minute firmware update which, at first, seemed to go well. Video quality immediately after the firmware update was noticeably impaired. Within hours after that the output for both sound and video went completely...

Great Receiver!
CONNECTIONS

The rear panel of the AVR-3312 has a good layout, although the speaker terminals on top of each other make it more difficult than needed to get the speaker wire in place, especially when using thick high quality speaker cable, e.g. 2.5mm. Denon should take a leaf out of Onkyo's book about that. Assigning inputs is easy using a comprehensible table, but not all inputs are assignable to all devices, e.g. a Wii connected using component video should be hooked up to the DVR input because analog sound cannot be associated to GAME1/2.

Making the rear surround amp assignable is a very good idea, and that possibility should imho be extended to all but the front L/R amps. How great would it not be to have the possibility of a spouse-friendly front height and wide setup with no rear speakers?

SETUP and PERFORMANCE

Setting up the speakers/amps can be somewhat confusing, with parameters such as Large/Small speaker, LFE / LFE+Main and...
Well worth the price.
The Denon AVR-3312 CI is well worth the money. I'm pleased with the sound quality and features offered with the receiver. I tested the audio on my current small speakers that took from my Logitech Speaker System Z906 (67W Satellites). I was able to hear a great deal more detail to all the music, movies, and streamed music than I had before on my older Onkyo 7.1 system using the same speaker setup.
The Airplay Iphone Denon app was fun to use on the receiver. The only Con is if your music is in a deep file directory on your Iphone it does cause the app to freeze. The speaker configuration was a piece of cake with the help of Audyssey MultEQ Room Equalization. The Onscreen menu display was strait to the point and easy to navigate and pleasing to the eye.
Updating the firmware was easy as letting it check for updates. Once you click yes, it downloads the update and applies automatically rebooting the receiver and displaying the download percent and estimated time of...

Big power, lots of features
I purchased the Aventage 2010 About a month ago, and after getting familiar with the unit, I love it. I has some of the coolest features. It is a network receiver and once hooked up to my network, all my devices on the network instantly recognized it and I was able to control the unit through them. I like the app. for the phone and tablets too being able to control the unit through those devices also is great feature when I am around the house listening to music. I have the receiver hooked up to my outside speakers as zone 3 and ceiling speakers inside for zone 2 and it is nice to be able to have different sources playing in all three.
In my home theater I have the receiver in a 7.2 configuration and was blown away by the output, I know that this unit is a bit pricey but it takes the place of so many devices that it is worth having. I would recommend anyone who has the means to purchase this receiver to not even hesitate, it is great.

Excellent, feature-rich clean sounding a/v receiver
I'm thoroughly delighted with this receiver having setup and tested it 2 days ago, and am continuing to enjoy it.
It replaced an aging sony receiver with no hdmi connections and somewhat limited power. The ability to minimize cord clutter with streamlined hdmi connections is wonderful. My dvd/sacd player, formerly requiring six cords, now connects with one hdmi cable.
Whereas the sony had discreet s-video and coax video circuits, this Yamaha receiver delivers all video connections (even coax and compoenent) to my tv monitor through its hdmi cable.

I selected this unit based on several online reviews and comparison of price and features. I appreciate the quality of its components and expect it to have the kind of lifetime I experienced with my sony ES receiver.

Sound is clean and transparent from all sources. I listen to a great deal of classical music over sacd which is especially demanding of an amps power and frequency response. The multi channel...
Outstanding receiver
I had an old Panasonic 7.1 receiver which worked great for 7 years, but it had only an older HDMI implementation with 3 in and 1 out port. It was already THX certified and the sound was what I considered "really good".

Wow, compared to the A2010, the old receiver almost sounds like a mono car radio system. Even though they had the same Watts output, the Yamaha sounded better with a smoother bass and much better surround effects. The various sound options on the 2010 really make a difference and having the different scenes at a push of a button makes watching TV almost fun again.

The up-convert from the Wii (480 resolution) works very good. The internet radio is also a very cool build in feature, as is the option to control pretty much everything from a phone (iphone and android apps available) or from a PC or netbook.

The setup was very easy and with the autmoatic sound setup routine, I was pretty much all set after 10 minutes. I am sure there are...

Pioneer vs Onkyo vs Denon
In the past year I've owned a Denon 2311CI, an Onkyo TX-NR809 and this Pioneer SC-61. Here are some comparisons.

Sound quality
1. Pioneer
2. Denon
3. Onkyo

The SC-61 sounds smooth and non fatiguing. It pairs really well with my Polk LSI system. The Denon sounded smooth as well, while the Onkyo was a little bright.

Loudness
1. Pioneer
2. Onkyo
3. Denon

The Pioneer is loud. Even though it has 125 W per channel vs the 135 W of the Onkyo, its class D3 amplification must be way more efficient because this receiver at -15 db sounds as loud as the Onkyo at reference (0 db), and way louder than the Denon.

Video quality
1. Pioneer and Onkyo
3. Denon

They all look good, but the Pioneer and Onkyo look better than the Denon.

Remote
1. Onkyo
2. Denon
3. Pioneer

The learning Onkyo remote is a pleasure to use with nice, soft buttons and four macro buttons on...

Quality product
I've previously owned a Pioneer amp and it is still running strong but a move to the USA meant a new amp and I had no hesitation in selecting another Pioneer. Its a sturdy machine, feels and looks solid. The connectivity is brilliant, I've hooked it into my wireless home network (using IOgear GWU627 rather than Pioneer wireless dongle) so I can stream netflix and internet radio stations very easily. Added the Pioneeer app to my ipad and phone to control the volume, select the inputs etc which works really well, means I can keep the amp behind closed doors which keeps the lady of the house happy! I'm driving a 5.1 system in the living room and stero zone 2 in the kitchen, more than enough power on tap to handle that. Sound is crisp and clean, every audio code you can think of. Also easy to set up with the supplied microphone and MDACC.
Best Reciever under $1000, but has a big drawback
Good:
Title says it all. Sounds great, runs cool, even has a great AM/FM tuner ("Who even mentions that?" Yes, it's that good) sooo many awesome features.

Bad:
Only bad thing is the use of all the inputs. I've been having trouble hooking up more than 1 analog (composite) audio or video source along with my 4 HDMI inputs and 1 optical audio input (TV audio out to receiver).

My Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K, I used to have, had no problems with this. It was as easy as hooking everything up and turning on the receiver. I consider myself to be very well versed when it comes to home theater installs, but this is just plain confusing. Even customer support doesn't know how to figure it out. I have an old N64 I want to hook up, as well as a AUX audio in... But nothing seems to let these things work without unplugging my Laserdisc/DVD/CD player and just using that input...

Overall: I rarely use those other two A/V sources, especially since I can just...

Great mid-range AV Receiver with more than most others
I upgraded from an old non-HDMI Yamaha HTR-5850.

I looked at the following:
- Onkyo TX-SR608
- Denon AVR-1911
- Pioneer VSX-1020-K
- Pioneer VSX-1021-K
- Yamaha RX-V667
- A few others
- Onkyo HT-RC360 is also a very similar one that merits comparison, esp. with the price.

First impression:
- Box was well packaged.
- Easy to connect right out of the box. I have a simple 5.1 set up, but even the 7.2 seems easy enough. Plenty of space between things, except the power cord seems to be in a...

Onkyo TX-NR609 is a Masterpiece of a Mid-range Receiver
I wanted to upgrade my receiver from a non hdmi Yamaha HTR-5890 to hdmi one. Researched a lot of receivers and bought a Denon AVR990 7.1-Channel Multi-Zone Home Theater Receiver with Networking Capability and 1080p HDMI Connectivity. Then I found out this new receiver Onkyo is releasing and was due to be out pretty soon. I liked the Denon's features, especially the built in HD Radio which I miss in this Onkyo. Anyway, I still love the new Onkyo TX-NR609.

The OSD GUI is fabulous and very pleasing to the eye. Pandora, Slacker, vTuner, and DLNA features are very attractive for my likes and will most likely use them the most, among the other 'Internet' features. Connecting my Wii, PS3, HTPC, Cable box, and Asus media player was a breeze. I use banana clips for speakers and is very easy to connect. I use a Velodyne powered subwoofer, NHT ones for fronts, and Infinity Quadrapoles for surround back. The Onkyo...
Love it, love it, love it!
We just got our TX-NR609 yesterday. The sturdiness of the product harkens to decades ago, when you could still pick up a stereo amplifier with a real metal case and it weighed something. At 32 lbs. shipping weight, it surprised us in a good way.

We purchased the unit as a replacement for an entry level Dolby Digital/DTS HD 5.1/6.1 receiver, primarily for the ability to use HDMI connectivity throughout the home theater system, for uncompressed audio signals and ease of signal switching. Also, THX certification at this price point is positively amazing. Don't let the name of the certification fool you - the certification level is based on room size, and this unit is certified for the vast majority of home theater sizes.

Connecting the components and speakers was extremely easy and required only one configuration change in the unit for a device which does not have an HDMI output and had to be connected via component video and stereo audio.

Running the...

Helpful advice for those interested in the RX-V673
While others have delivered much praise for the Yamaha RX-V673 receiver, I wanted to build on their collective comments with my own findings. The intent is to share my experience with the hope it may help others make a decision on whether the RX-V673 is right for them.

In 1999 I purchased a Yamaha RX-V1000 receiver, which I've been very happy with for the last thirteen+ years. My wife and I recently purchased a new 60" Samsung flat screen television and I learned the advantages of utilizing the HDMI connection to the new television. One problem: my old RX-V1000 doesn't have HDMI connections because it's badly outdated. So I began researching receivers and, like my original search back in 1999, I found the features that I'm looking for and the quantity of favorable reviews all pointed me back to Yamaha.

So I purchased the RX-V673. When it arrived, I spent time setting it up, getting it configured, and exploring everything it had to offer. I now have educated...

please note: firmware update available Nov 2012
** For everyone mourning the loss of Pandora support on this generation of receivers, please note that Yamaha recently (Nov 2012) released a firmware update for the RX-V673 that enables Pandora / SiriusXM / Rhapsody & Napster music services.

I'm really satisfied with this receiver, it's very flexible with a ton of inputs, HDMI-CEC & HDMI-ARC support, Net radio + airplay + DLNA client. Everything works fine for me. The only thing it's missing is a headphone-style input jack for portable music players. To get audio from a headphone jack into this amp you'll need a 3.5mm-to-RCA cable and plug it into one of the rear RCA inputs.

Automatic sound setup through YPAO is great, it gives you a smooth balanced sound that you can fine-tune to your liking

I love the convenience of being able to control it through my android phone, or through the TV remote when it's on that input, or even having (limited) control through the receiver's own web interface. Often I'm...
Great receiver, especially for someone new to home theater receivers
I've had this receiver for about five weeks and have had the chance to try out quite a few of its features, but not all of them, so this is a review in progress that I will add to from time to time.

In the meantime, here are some great things about this receiver:
* The app for the ipod touch, ipad and iphone is great. Very easy to use. Using this app is the best way to use the receiver's Pandora feature without going through your t.v. or an external device (such as a blu-ray player) because you get great album artwork on the screen of your Apple device. Using the app you can control bass, treble, volume, elevate voice levels (useful for movies), and other features. Best of all, I can be anywhere in my house and control these features (skip songs, raise and lower the volume, etc.) as long as I am connected to the same network that my Yamaha receiver is connected to. The app allows you to choose the source to listen to as well. There are a large number of source...

Good receiver with lots of inputs and features
I recently upgraded from an Onkyo HT530 receiver to the TX-NR509 for its HDMI and some of the fancy extras (networking, USB playback, etc.)

Some thoughts on the receiver:

HDMI issues from last gen of Onkyo receivers?
----------------
Doing a little research before buying, I was worried that the HDMI handshake issues that popped up for the TX-SR508 and TX-SR608 owners would be present here, but so far so good. Currently using it with a PS3, no issues so far. Will definitely update this if I come across issues.

Easy Setup
----------------
The old receiver didn't have the Audyssey EQ configuration, using it was interesting. The set up process ended up pretty darn accurate in terms of automatically configuring speaker distance and values I'd normally have to put in by hand on my old receiver. +1 for painless initial setup!

Great On-screen display
----------------
The OSD is actually pretty clean and makes the menus...

Very Good Receiver Overall, but Know All Features!
Overall, this is a good receiver and I have come to be very happy with it. However, there are some very important things that a prospective buyer needs to know about it first; I didn't know these things when I bought it but fortunately I was able to work around them.

The receiver doesn't covert between video formats. This may be a standard thing with receivers, but it was unbeknownst to me when I bought it and then read about it with dismay in the manual. What this means is if you have, say, an HDMI cable in the video out source on your cable/satellite/DVD running into the receiver, and then a composite video cable going out from the receiver to your TV, you won't get any video because it won't convert between the HDMI and composite connection.

The above is very important because the receiver's on-screen display menus will ONLY work over an HDMI connection, meaning you must be running an HDMI cable out from the receiver to your TV as well as out from your video...
509 review
I bought this from another vendor when it was on sale. This receiver is a good receiver for the price, but you get what you pay for. It has great features which is why its such a big seller. These power some brand new Energy RC-10 speakers. Internet radio GUI is fairly plain and the search function does not retrieve the same results as when you search online through a PC. But other than that, it works great. USB works quite well, although once in awhile it won't play the next song. Easy fix though, all you have to do is press next. Setup is straight forward and easy. Audssey 2EQ makes things convenient also.

Now my biggest complaint...the receiver inherently has an audible noise floor. As the volume is turned up, there is a hiss that gets louder and louder. When I surf through my PS3 menu and the volume is about 35 (range is 0-80), you hear an audible hiss from the speakers. Keep in mind I am sitting about 5 feet away from the receiver. This hiss is much very...

Pioneer...
