Great Sound, No Fuss.
I'll start with my current set up and what my expectations were. I have a 47" Philips LCD TV, all the major gaming systems, and I also use my LCD TV as a computer monitor. I was looking for a speaker system with a subwoofer for around $400. I didn't want to buy a receiver if I didn't have to for my set up. I had researched and heard several soundbar systems before deciding on this one. All of my gaming systems and my laptop connect directly into the TV through HDMI cables. The speakers are connected to the TV through the "TV Out" connection. Overall, I am very, very happy with it.

The soundbar itself is smaller than expected. The mid and high rannge sounds are great. One concern that I had with soundbar systems was the ability to hear dialogue. Many soundbar systems I listened to had muffled dialogue that was difficult to hear at times. This soundbar does not suffer from any of those qualities. Dialogue is easy to hear from all sources.

Very Nice
I purchased one of these because my husband is an old rocker and his hearing isn't as good as it used to be. He'd given up watching TV on our 46" Samsung LCD because of muddy sound. I don't know whether we blew a speaker (which we've done on every other stereo and car we've owned) or whether it was just the tiny, tinny speakers in the TV. (Time out for pet peeve: We paid a LOT of money for this TV 2 years ago; you'd think they could put decent speakers in it. OK, back in) He was always asking me what people had said. I wasn't sure one of these would 'fix' it, but it did. We pulled it out of the box and plugged one cable into the wall for power and one into the TV for audio (actually 2 together, you know how they do left and right, red and yellow). We turned the TV speakers off and started enjoying TV immediately. Then my son insisted that we had to use the subwoofer. I thought extra noise was part of our problem and didn't want to add anything more. We plugged it into power and placed...
Nice little system but..
It gives a good bang for the buck but there were a couple of issues that I had with it. Firstly, it is very easy to setup and install which is a plus. The wireless sub fits conveniently anywhere in a room and provides a nice bass. Where is the remote? Where are the directions? These things were not in the box. I am guessing the remote wasn't supposed to be there. It took me a few days to figure out that when you turn the tv off and on the sound bar will automatically sense input from the TV and then turn itself on without having to manually press the power button which is nice. But I would have liked to have read that in a manually and not figure it out for myself. Overall I love the simplicity that this system provides and combined with good performance I would recommend it to someone who doesn't want to hassle with a big surround system but wants something a little extra in the sound department.

Great division of channels
I have listen to dozens of 5.1 and 7.1 home theater systems, but most of them are no more than adding a couple speakers to an old stereo. They don't have the best separation, and you can't really tell one channel from the other. Difference is, with this system I can hear the difference with every single channel of the system. Yet when you get in the middle of the room, and it feeds all at once, you have such great sound. It's truly excellent.

Just for my room
Give me music videos day and night and I am happy to go. Having this 5.1 really lets me enjoy them more and more, putting every bit of sound around the room as I listen to the video. It makes me feel like I am on stage with the band when I hear this sound. My folks keep telling me I should put the system in the family room so everyone can use it, but I say no, because then I can't wake up to my surround as great as this.

You Won't Believe It....
..... cause I didn't believe it either.

Quincy Jones + Studio Level speaker mfgr = quality I didn't expect at a value I could never get through normal channels. I'm not an audiophile, but these create a better sound space than my local movie theater. I didn't plan to add surround sound to my flat-screen till I found these, but now I actually look forward to sitting down to the sound as much as the picture with my new flat screen. For the first few weeks, we turned around on several occassions thinking someone might be in the house, when we heard a particularly clear back noise. It was eerie.

On the older silver line set that I own, lab analysis shows a nice, even sound across all bandwidths except for a narrow drop off just below the voice range. When I first bought these I thought I could hear that difference playing the same song back and forth with my home audio system. Now I don't hear it, but I think I've just gotten used to it. First of all, because I am in Ohio, and this is where the product shipped from, it was here almost immediately. but I had also ordered speaker stands from a different vendor, and they came the same day. And so began the fun...
The unit is no lightweight, and not small in any way. I had to gerry-rig the speakers to work with the stands. I am a man of mechanics, so for me, no big deal, but the speakers are long, (all 5 are identical), and rounded. They come with stands that can be placed on some flat surface, like an end table or whatever, and they are fine; if not your situation, you will have to engineer something to get them up where you want them, or hang them on a wall.
The installation: they come preset, all you do is hook them up, you really don't have to make any adjustments if you don't want to. and..be prepared..if you aren't real familiar with a higher-end system, don't expect to make friends with the instruction manual; it is all basically in there, but if you...
Obvious what happened here
I did my research before buying this ... I had known about SLS from their concert sound reinforcement products. As I understand it, this bundle is a mix of SLS speakers and the Sherwood (re-branded amp).

For whatever reason, SLS entered the consumer market and then pulled out. Likely because consumers markets are full of "consumers" who are likely only after the lowest price ... etc ... Probably more money to be made in their already successful concert products (Which are an industry standard by the way) ...

In any event, the online seller of this bundle likely bought up all SLS remain speakers at a bargain ...

Other reviewers are right when they say that the price is still good if it were for the speakers alone. They sound exceptional compared to just about anything I have heard. The amp (which is nice as well) is definitely worth it as well when you consider the overall price.

Amazing sound
Finally decided on this after listening to the V35 and 235 system.

Large living room's i would go with the V35 smallish room the 235 sounds excellent and leaves the 321 system for dust 100% improvement from the gemstone speakers.

Sound is excellent in both music and 5.1 surround movies with the Adaptiq and speakers giving a surprisingly good surround feel from movie soundtracks.

Setup is of course easy.

Suprisingly Unify remote worked with the following without any issues

Apple TV
Mac Mini
ABS Satellite box
PS3 (Use the harmony logitech adaptor)
Samsung TV.

Single remote works a treat.

Don't be put off by only dual speakers they are amazing. Wife factor is good also no wires no clutter and only 2 speakers.

Great system but you pay for it
I intended to purchase a 5.1 system, specifically the Bose? Lifestyle? V35 home entertainment system--Black, but was not excited about having to run wires to my rear speakers. I live in a condo and due to the shape of the room and furniture layout the wireless option did not work due to power supply issues. I was going to have to fish the wires through the walls. I went to the Bose outlet to see what other options I might have and the salesman showed me this system. All I can say is WOW.

The 2.1 speaker system really fills the room with sound and the Adaptiq works well and tunes the system to your room. The Gemstone speakers do a great job of simulating rear speakers for surround effects. The unify setup and remote work very well. It will control all of my components. I still use a Logitech Harmony 880 Advanced Universal Remote...
Great System for What It Is
This is not a 5.1 system and never will be. That said, I have a very challenging room that is 25 ft by 12 feet with the layout such that a corner position for the TV / entertainment console is the only thing that works (windows, French doors, and a fireplace on the three sides without the couch are pretty much unchangeable). So for me, a 5.1 system would always be a challenge, and with hardwood floors, it would be ugly too (yes, there are some awesome wireless options, but they are very expensive for the ones that actually work well). I have had this system for a few months and the small footprint of the system works well, and the sound is great, even in the size room that I have it in (I have normal ceiling heights, which likely help). The remote is fantastic, combining my DVD player, cable DVR box, iPod, TV, et al., and my wife can easily use the one remote for everything, which is a big plus.

My only gripe is that I find the iPod interface to be annoying. I use an...

Great Sound, Horrid Product Execution
If all I was grading the SpeakerCraft CS3 on was the sound quality, I would give it a 4.7 out of 5. However, there are just too many other factors to consider that as the final overall grade for this product.

First off, the unit does not have its own Dolby Digital decoder. A number of TV's (including my new Panasonic IPS LED TV) and cable boxes will not output PCM only via the optical digital output. Therefore any digital or ATSC channels from my TV, I get no audio from the SpeakerCraft CS3. The "workaround" is that SpeakerCraft started including the Gefen TV Dolby Digital Audio Decoder external box. This is what is meant by the "optional digital audio decoder included" on the side of the product packaging.

The Gefen TV decoder box does do what it was designed for. It takes the optical digital output converts it down and outputs it via left/right ANALOG connections to the SpeakerCraft CS3. For the price point of this unit, this should be done internally and not...

Tiny but powerful
I bought these speakers for my living room, 10x20' or so. I was worried they wouldn't be loud enough, or that I'd have to turn it all the way up to make it loud. These are some of the most crisp speakers I've heard in a while, and plenty loud enough for the living room, and other big rooms. The bass isn't window rattling, but it blends in so well with the rest of the system, and the other speaker, everything sounds so natural. I would highly recommend these to any of my friends. It goes as loud as I like it, and then has more to spare. The size of the speaker makes them unimposing on the wall, and is a pleasant surprise to anyone who hears them "those are really loud for tiny speakers"

Nice little system
I found that the sound from this system was little less than I was expecting after reading all of the reviews online and especially through CNet. It was one of their top 5 systems I believe.

As such, I was expecting great things. I have had to settle for good things. The sound is good. I wanted an unobtrusive set up in our new place, and on that point the system delivers. Nice little speakers, appear to be of quality manufacture, but I find I have to drive them a little harder than my old Klipsch Quintet. Nonetheless, I like the system.
Everything I Wanted And More!!!!
I've been looking for small, powerful speakers with great sound quality and that's what I got. I use these speakers first for what they are meant, a surround sound system and second to listen to live steaming music from Pandora.

I must say that part of my instant and overwhelming love of these speakers are in part based on what they are replacing, a 5.1 mini JBL system. I had that system for 10 years and always loved how it performed even though I knew it could be out done. About 3 years ago I decided I would replace the JBL system and after reading the reviews the Mirage MX 5.1 seemed my best option. The price was the only thing that held me back. When the price dropped on Black Friday this year I jumped at it.

Bose Lifestyle 135 Home entertainment system
I previously had multiple components, receiver and lots of tangled cords. I was looking to downsize without giving up quality and eliminate the clutter. I was not disappointed. This is a great system. I was surprised, however, that it took so much work to set up the new Bose system. It is not 'plug n play'. I ended up spending several hours to connect the components. Once set up it is great and I recommend this system. I am very pleased.

Decent alternative to tv speakers
If you can have one for the price I paid I believe it's a worthy replacement to stock flat panel speakers, and an acceptable alternative to true surround sound. I actually bought this at an online outlet site for a little over one bill $. I had not read any reviews online and this speaker system is pretty much non-existent for sale online so I was a little nervous after I had bought this. There are a few quirks that would put off most people from buying, such as a lack of HDMI, and the standard definition on screen setup required to see any changes of audio settings. The sound bar is very large, almost as wide as my 50 inch plasma, so that might be something to consider as well. The remote is a little confusing and attempts to integrate itself as a universal remote but fails as such. I believe the only thing Altec Lansing got right with this rather large sound bar is the cool modern design and the theatre-like sound. Don't pay more than $100
I bought this from the Altec Lansing website. It was clearanced/discontinued for $100 having had an original price of almost $600. I would say it's barely worth the $100 I paid. First off, this is not a 5.1 system. I guess it would be a 3.0 system. Most noticeably the subwoofer output is not a true low frequency (LFE) channel. It's called "enhanced bass" in the manual.

Beyond these deceptive marketing gimmicks, the couple other gripes I have about this system that would have made it more of a value is it doesn't have a radio tuner built in. Next is it only has indicator lights (no display) so at any distance it is very difficult to tell what input it is on. You also have to toggle through the inputs (twice since each input has analog and digital). This is what makes the indicator lights annoying. From sitting you toggle through the inputs yet can't see what you are on.

The other drawbacks are discussed by other reviewers so they don't need restating. All in all...
DIALOGUE is BACK! Nice Separation...
We have a 40" LCD flatscreen with decent speakers, and we love to watch movies...

Are you tired of saying, "What did he/she say?" and then pausing, rewinding, replaying 3 times to find out? We certainly were. Because if you turn up the sound on many TVs and older sound systems, the effects and soundtrack drown out the dialogue or center channel.

I think movies are EQ'd for 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround. Problem with that scenario is that those 5.1 systems are expensive, obtrusive, time-consuming to install, not to mention somewhat ugly.

So we took a chance and ordered the Altec Lansing PT7031. It's made our viewing/listening experience 100% better--and it looks sleek on top of the entertainment console (our widescreen is wall-mounted and we're debating about whether to use the wall mount bracket that came with the PT7031 or not).

Great for multi-room application with small space
Bose Lifestyle 48 system outperforms all previous Bose Lifestyle and Receiver Acoustimass combos. You cannot find a better sounding Bose speaker - bass model - media center combination on the market. The expansion, frills, design, power, sound and easy of use of this system is geared towards the customer branded public. This system is slightly expensive at all Bose stores. The system was bought by myself for multi-room reasons and space requirements. I have not experienced a more friendly on-screen setup and display and sheer volume of recordable songs onto the system from any other system. Overall this system is a dream for somebody which like home theater and stereo sound and wants to be able to not have to change disc every hour. Where to start...

Nerd's notes:
First of all, for those that get the Sony BDV-E570 that was manufactured earlier in the year, it may have been before they fixed the issues with the software upgrade. I believe I received such a model. Being the overly concerned nerd that I am, I read the manual. It is not very specific, but does tell you to plug in the network cable to perform the upgrade. Read into this and you must assume to NOT PERFORM THE UPGRADE OVER WIFI. Well, you can take that a step further, (which of course I did), and you can download the update directly from Sony, place the files on a blank CD-R, then place the disk in the player and perform the update that way (it auto detects that the disk contains update files very nicely). This worked perfectly. No issues like the horror stories I have been hearing about this model (earlier this year), and the next model up the BDV-E770W. Due to the age of the model I received, there were two updates to perform,...

Sony Blu-Ray & 5.1 Sound System
Right out of the box, it was very easy to set up as long as you the patience to find a way to run the rear speakers with hiding the speaker wire. Also, the speaker wire to the the rear speakers is too short to place them far enough back to optimize the 5.1 sound.

I Wish that the subwoofer was powered. The passive subwoofer gives good sound, not great sound. The 1,000 watt system easily fills the large family room with quality sound.

The system has the minimum amount of inputs, but lacks an audio out-put to run a set of B speakers to another room in the house.

I haven't tried the WiFi conection to the internet yet. I'll update my review after I try the WiFi feature.

It works pretty well, but....
I bought this system to replace my Sony 5 speaker system with a 5 CD/DVD changer and a receiver, which was getting a little dated. It does some great things that I couldn't do with my other system, but there are also some drawbacks. I appreciated most of the reviews on this website, but here are my 2 cents:

pros: Can watch Netflix "watch instantly" movies and shows
can listen to Pandora
can watch photos, videos from a flash drive
sound is pretty good, comparable to my last system

cons: It cannot play my iPod (5th gen iPod classic). Watch out for this: the system can play some iPod's, but not others.
It cannot play European (other than region 1) DVD's. I now have to hook up my European DVD player to the television because the unit is not a real receiver.
Does FM, not AM radio

Overall, it was a good buy for me since I got it on Amazon for $350, so I can't complain too much.

Great Soundsystem
I love everything about this sound system. Maybe I'm old fashioned and have not caught up on the other systems that are out there but I love what it has to offer. I do have it connected to wifi but I really don't use it for any other services but watch DVD's and BlueRays. The picture quality of the blue ray player is amazing and so is the sound system. As for as the rear wireless speakers, it is not completely wireless but the wires are hiding behind the couch so it is no big deal. I plugged in the iPod and the docking station and the display is on the tv which is great as oppose doing it on the iPod. The Bass on the subwoofer is deep and heavy. I love it. Watch Jurassic Park on it and you will see!! Play a Star Wars movie on it and feel it! I recommend this soundsystem.

ZVOX 420 is a great way to go.
I got the ZVOX 420 this week!

The 420 is nicely boxed, with a minimum of extra packaging. It's very easy to unbox, and the "quick setup" brochure comes on top and outside the packaging. Best part: there's no "extended setup," the setup really is so simple a child could do it.

After unboxing the 420 I found it came with a remote (no batteries, needed two AAs), the 420 itself, an optical sound cable, and a cable to plug an MP3 player into the 420's headphone jack. The 420 comes with a laptop sized power brick, which uses a standard PC power cable. There are additional directions with it to describe the different surround sound options (3 settings) and explain how to program the 420 to obey your remote of choice.

The enclosure is MDF, mostly flattish-black, has a black front metal grill, and nice and solid. There is one port, rear firing, for the bass. It has 4 round feet with plastic "footies" to stand on and not scratch whatever surface you set this...

Not perfect, but pretty darn good
I've been reading glowing reviews of ZVOX "sound bars" for several years and finally took the plunge last week by purchasing the model 420. I was in the market for an inexpensive way to improve my 37" Sony's poor sound on normal TV viewing, as well as giving me something of a home theater experience while watching DVD's. After a week of getting used to the 420 and playing around with the various settings I here to say...it's a keeper, although nothing close to a 5.1 set-up.

The 420 is basically 5 small front facing drivers and a down firing sub enclosed in an attractive, unobtrusive and solidly built wooden case. The unit is much deeper than a normal sound bar (it's closer to a pizza box than a sound bar) so if you're considering it, make sure you have the room. The front drivers are completely hidden, and the LED display, which lights up the volume and other settings, is only visible while making adjustments - in other words, you'll soon forget the 420 is even there...
It Works for Me!
I really can't add anything beyond what has been said by previous reviewers. You open the nicely packaged box, follow the 3-4 step setup process and you are done.

The training of my Uverse remote was a snap--no looking up strange numbers, just press the respective buttons on command and this box learns the settings--one minute at most.

I bought this because the dialog from my Sharp Aquos was frequently "mushy", maybe due to my advancing age. The ZVOX has a special setting for dialog emphasis which solved my problem.

The box is bigger than I had anticipated but it fits quite nicely under our 42" LCD.

Am I really the only one who bought this? ... Ok, my old setup was a very nice (for the time) Denon 5.1 receiver with JBL speakers (before the days of HD or HDMI interfaces), this is what I am comparing to... my current setup has this home theater package and a new 65" LG 3D HD TV...

Speakers (8.5 to 9 out of 10):
The speakers sound very good, without any reviews to go off of, I was scared that they wouldn't, but I am happy with the sound.
When listening to music only from CD or iPad, my stereo speakers (Altec's) probably sounded a tiny bit better, but that is expected since that is what they are designed for and the difference is not very big. While playing the audio from movies (like Transformers or Avatar) these speakers sound great... at times, even better than great... and for the most part, better than my JBL's...

LG BH9420PW - Home Theater System 5 speakers, sub, 3D blue ray
We purchased this on Monday and received it the very next day (I LOVE amazon for that). Anyways, we had purchased a nice sound bar system at Fry's earlier last week and it was awful, so we returned it and took a chance on an online purchase. We were a little hesitant from the reviews, but decided on it anyway, the price was right and we have an LG TV and are pleased with that. I was a little intimidated when we opened the box because there was so much stuff. It was package very nicely and I LOVE the fact that all of the wires and cords are labeled and labeled on BOTH ends of it. The wireless receiver was SO easy, we plugged it in and it automatically connected with the receiver. Just an FYI, the Blue Ray player is the receiver as well, I didn't read that in the description but prob missed over it. We were able to connect the receiver to our wireless router incredibly easy. I mainly purchased this unit for the speakers, so I could listen to music while doing all the fun chores around...
Engaging Surround Sound with Easy Installation
In October 2012, I became serious about purchasing a home-theater-in-a-box. It was time to upgrade the sound quality of my television programming and gaming sessions to something more than stereo. None of the online reviews were all that helpful when I compared this particular unit to, say, similarly priced HTIB units.

For the record, my decision came down to this LG product and the Panasonic SC-BTT490. The initial problem I had getting to this point: neither were setup in a local electronics shop. I could experience the downgraded units from both manufactures (LG BH9220BW and Panasonic SC-BTT195), but the "high-end" units were not carried in-store when I went looking for them.
