Cerwin Vega! VE-15 15" 3-Way Tower Speaker (1) Get Rabate

The large, 3-way designs with Bass Reflex and 15-inch woofer, respectively, kick out the high volume and articulated bass that have made Cerwin-Vega famous. They're perfect for everything from the tight definition of mid- and high-frequency rock and jazz to the deep bass of hip-hop and R&B.
With so many on offer these days, it is great to have a name you can trust. This item is certainly that and will be a perfect buy. The distributor have added some great touches and this equals great value.

Fabulous Sound
I was surprised at how big and heavy these speakers were when the arrived to my home. But I soon forgot all of that when I hooked them up and listened to the great sound!!!

I originally purchased these speakers to replace a pair of old Mitsubishi speakers from the mid 80's my parents had abandoned and I had found a use for. I didn't really understand why these speakers where pricey but I decided to get them because there are no more REAL floor standing speakers in the market anymore!! I'm glad I made the decision to purchase these. They deliver way better bass compared to the old Mitsu's I had. And the tweeters produce a very rich, but not over the top sound. The woofer and the tweeters are perfectly synchronized to deliver a good balance of low and high sounds.

All in all, if you're out looking around for a real pair of floor speakers, end your search now and purchase these, you won't regret it.

Awesome.
I bought these speakers in 1995, which makes them (and me) really old to date. I've had audiofile friends tell me how nice, and how expensive their speakers they have are. I've seen a lot of fancy looking speakers, and all the top brands. Nothing is a better workhorse, has clearer sound, and deeper bass, than these. I have hammered these babies for years, and they still sound great. I've hauled em' from Ohio, to Oregon, and now to North Carolina. People scoff when they see them now. Beat up cabinets and the covers are not too pretty. But when I light em' up with my Onkyo, they sing, and people can't believe the sound. 15" subs just effing pound. Thats all there is to it. The tweets, and mids sound great, at high and low volume. Superb sensitivity, makes every watt count. Some people say they sound to bass heavy. To those people, I say kiss my ass. Without hopefully sounding too corny, I can honestly say, these speakers have been a part of my life. A lotta fond...
Best speakers I've ever heard
After owning these speakers for a couple months, I went to the local metal club to see my favorite band play. It sounded like crap compared to these Cerwin Vegas. I always thought it sounded awesome there, but now I know just how good music can sound. I paired two of these with the Cerwin Vega 800 watt pro amplifier. I can never turn the volume past 20% because pictures will start falling off walls. But it's not just the volume of these, it's the CLARITY at high volume. At ear-bleeding levels, every high note and drum beat is crystal clear, precise, clean. I also used these for my wedding and everyone commented on how nice they sound. These are great for all types of music, but they really shine with rock and metal. It's nice to get some double bass with no distortion!

These also pull double duty as my front speakers for the home theater (I use the analog outs on my HTPC straight to amplifiers, I have no reciever). Yes, they are serious overkill for front speakers in a...

Excellent option for Blu-Ray and HD-DVD
I could have not been more pleased with these speakers. I first listened to them at a local frys electronics and the range and depth just simply amazed me. Not to mention this is a steal on the ES90, thanks amazon! The ES80 is slightly watered down version are going for $50 more currently. I was able to find deals on pretty much a complete set of the ES series speakers here on amazon.
I currently have
ES90 - mains
ES25C - center
ES150P - woofer
ES20 - bookshelfs

Together the set provides a complete range of sounds that pretty much covers all ranges of audio from music to HD surround sound formats. I highly recommend any speaker in this series. As always I reccomend that you hear them first as not everyones ears are as finely tuned as some. :)

Midrange Is Too Strong
See 3/19/2010 update below.

I'll start by saying that my 3 rating would be about a 7 on a 1 to 10 scale. Based on the overly strong midrange and the fact that JBL is having this speaker built in China, I can't give this a 4 out of 5.

Fit, finish, and appearance on this speaker is somewhat mixed. The front panel veneer is attractive and rolls to the top panel via the beveled edge at the top front. The front panel is made of MDF and appears to be either 3/4 or 1 inch thick. It sounds very solid when rapped with your knuckle. (This is a simple and quick test I would recommend for any speaker.) In general the front of the speaker looks very good.

The side panels are thinner MDF and have a plain black veneer with a fine texture. I can't tell whether they are 1/2 or 5/8 inch thick. The entire cabinet tapers from front to back, with the back only measuring 7 1/2 inches wide vs. 10 1/4 at the front. This tapered design isn't my first choice, but...
Big speakers, big sound
If you're used to your typical bookshelf or home-theater-in-a-box speakers, you might be surprised at the size of these. Those woofers are bigger than most small system subwoofers. And there are two of them.

The sound is great, and plenty loud for a medium sized room. The legs work great on a hardwood floor, with no vibration noise coming from them. Overall, they feel stable and aren't likely to fall over.

Color was a bit more on the grey side than I had expected, but looks nice. They match the surrounds/bookshelf speakers well.

Not shown is the cover that covers all of the elements, but not the bottom. This looks nice and is black, but isn't clear from the image.

Product Features :

Utilizes UHF drivers capable of 40kHz for excellent highs.
A JBL computer-optimized bass-reflex port provides deeper bass and less turbulence.
These speakers are designed to look good anywhere with a style that equals their substance.

Excellent surround sound speakers
These are great speakers. The Klipsch Reference series is not like the Klipsch Synergy series. The reference series are mid to high end home entertainment speakers that you have to get through an authorized dealer.

They are very well made with great components. These bipole speakers are wired in phase so both speakers output sound simultaneously. The back of the speakers have a hole to mount them on the wall. I am using two of these as my rear surround channel. The audio reproduction is better then any speaker I have ever owned. The speakers are very efficient and require little volume to get full sound. The clarity of music and movies is almost like you are in the room with the musicians/actors. I put in the Nirvana Unplugged in New York DVD and was saying to myself, wow, Kurt's vocals and acoustic guitar is so clear. I couldn't believe it. Then it gets better, one of the women on the set cuts through everything with an upright bass. The vocals, acoustic guitar,...

Amazing Clarity
I finally completed my piece-by-piece home theater upgrade with the Klipsch RS-42 surround speakers and I couldn't be happier. The sound quality is amazing. I've actually caught myself looking around the room from time to time as sounds from my Blu-Ray movie move about the room. You forget you're listening to a movie!

This is particularly cool with my XBox 360. The video game sounds come through with such depth and clarity it's easy to get lost in my epic battle to save the Universe. lol

Definitely a great choice for smaller living rooms where top-grade sound is a must.

This finally completes my Klipsch Reference Series system!
Great sound, room filling
First off, these surrounds aren't small. They're a little bigger than a size 12 pack. The seller says they weigh 9.9lbs but on the Klipsch website it says that they weigh 11.9. Could make a big difference if you are planning on hanging them on the wall/ceiling. I hung mine from the ceiling and went with a 20lb rated hanger. As for sound quality they sound great. Do a very good immersing the listener in full surround sound, picks up a lot of things that I never heard on some shows that I have seen before. The dual 4" woofers and 1" tweeters were my deciding factor over the RS-41's after i heard them in the store. Worth the extra money in my opinion. Would definitely consider these to go to 7.1

Pleasing but expensive
These do sound terrific and have an interesting design. They are a significant improvement over the HTiB speakers I had before.

However, they're also quite a bit larger than I expected, keeping them from 'vanishing' into the visual space the way one might want them to; the pictures here really belie their size. And I think they're quite expensive for surround speakers. Understanding that I didn't shy away from purchasing expensive front speakers (also MartinLogans), and I do intend to get one of those high-end MartinLogan electrostatic center speakers (Stage or Motif), I'm having doubts about the real value of such expensive surrounds. But again, they do sound terrific - I'm completely satisified by the sound.

LooKs and Sounds Great
I bought the MartinLogan Motion FX Surround Speakers to round out a Yamaha Sound Bar system in my small living room (to make bring it a true 5.1 system). I didn't like any of the Yamaha options - so branched out to other brands. I have to admit that aesthetics played a big role in my choice - I wanted something that would look decent mounted on the wall by the sides of my couch (the curves look beautiful). I did a little research on the audiophile-wannabe boards and the speakers received good reviews. I am really happy with the MartinLogan Motion FX Surround Speakers - they sound amazing: smooth, refined sound with great dynamic range and clarity. I highly recommend them and will definitely buy MartinLogan speakers again.
Great sound, look, and size!
I purchased these speakers for rear surround sound along with electromotion cl2 (center) and ESL (front left & right). They sound great and work well with my living room space and look like 2 little clouds behind the coach. I chose these over the FX2 because they are little smaller and the FX2 's don't come in white. The make and sound of these speakers is what you would expect from Martinlogan. So happy with quality of sound I would consider even using them alone in small setup.

Great Performance for the Price
I picked up a pair of TSi300's and they perform much better than I would expect from speakers at this price level. The TSi series is positioned between the Monitor series and the RTi series and rightfully so. They are an evolutionary improvement to the Monitor 50 (improved matierals, better bass response, better imaging, more detailed highs), though they lack the pristine clarity of the RTi series. They are, however, definitely a world ahead of the cheap R50's that they replaced in my living room, and will easily outperform budget speakers and even some higher end speakers.

What really strikes me about the TSi300's is the sophistication and dynamics of the sound they provide, especially relative to the price point they're at. Considering the compact size of the speakers, they provide suprisingly good sound imaging, projecting a wider sound-field than you'd initially expect, without getting needlessly loud or overbearing. They sound very smooth, rich, and...

Amazing speakers, terrific sound dynamics.
These speakers are great with almost any kind of music. Crisp, filled with great dynamics in sound, and potent at any volume level, these speakers are truly amazing for the price. I purchased two of these towers and power them through a Sony 2.0 channel stereo receiver. They stand right in front of me at my computer desk.

Sound is clear through all thresholds. Nice bass, good (though slightly muddled) mids, and very good highs. The speakers carry the music very well from a variety of styles (from rock to pop to classical). They are very good with the lows. Vocals are clear and distinct against the background of instruments.

For the aborning audiophile I highly recommend these speakers. Comparatively they are inexpensive and they reproduce significantly higher grade music and sound than do a standard set of lower level Sonys, such as the SS-B3000 set. Sound, with good cables, is better reproduced, more certain and pronounced, and of far greater quality...
What a perfect speaker system for surround or stereo!
I had my Polk surround speakers all hooked up. The very small speakers in the front were the only thing that was bothering me because of the "hole" in the sound because of the mini size. Not bad for most but when you come from an audiophile Allison and Sony ES system, things have to be right.
Well, the answer came the other day with a set of Polk Vertical floor standing TSI300's!

The sound is transparent and very flat and clean. There is plenty of bass from these smaller towers and it's nice that they are light and will fit in my smaller family room/surround room. These babies can take some volume and best of all, they did the trick. No more hole in the audio either with surround or stereo CD's. They are a bargain at any price and while Polk is not considered to be "audiophile" speakers, this set touches that goal!

Bottom line-Handsome, clean and accurate sound, small so they fit anywhere, and handsome! Don't spend more, these will do the job unless you need...

Excellent quality and value. Polk makes a great speaker.
I am using these as my main front speakers, with a new Pioneer 1019 receiver. The sound and build quality are excellent -- especially for the money. The only reason I give them a 4 on sound is because you will definitely need a sub to fill in the bass. Maybe they were designed with that thought already in mind, and I do have a sub, but it's just my 2 cents. If you have a sub, or plan to buy one, these speakers are a great choice. BTW, the 400's are worth the extra $200 if you can afford it -- they have a fuller sound. I initially bought the 300's and took them home, but swapped them for the 400's.

TSI400
I just bought these TSI400's and a cs10 center channel speaker. I hooked everything up to the new Onkyo 607 receiver. The 400's sound absolutely amazing. I bi-amped them to maximize the power, so they have 180 watts RMS. They reach loud volumes with still sounding amazing. The bass is tight and punchy. If you are into bass, you will need to get a PWS. Don't get me wrong, the bass on these speakers is great, but you really need to get the sub to complete the sound. The clarity of the sound that comes from these speakers is why I rated them so high. Would definately recommend for your floor standing speakers.

These are great speakers that won't break the bank to own.

One last thing... I have heard that if you get the TSI500's you may not even need a PSW. For only $200 more for the pair it might be something to consider.
Great looking and even better sounding.
I listened to these side by side versus a set of Klipsch in a local big box store. The Klipsch were actually more in price but I thought the horn tweeters sounded too harsh. The polk sounded crystal clear and were easy to listen to. They had the TSI300's and TSI400's side by side. The 400's sounded "fuller" with the extra speaker. The great part was that the 400's were on sale and were actually cheaper then the 300's. There was no way I was going to miss out on this deal. I also have the CS10 for the center speaker. Sill deciding on either the 100's or 200's for the surrounds. Overall very happy.

If you love great sound you must experience the magic of Definitive's Bipolar SuperTowers. Their patented combination of bipolar technology (for rich life-like, room-filling, three-dimensional sound) and built-in SuperCube technology subs (for awesome, lightning-fast, earthshaking bass) delivers absolutely unsurpassed sonic performance. Absolutely. Speechless.
If any mid-high range audio company does it right, it's Def Tech.

I bought these on 12/1/08 along with the Def Tech C/L/R 2300, plugged them in to my Yamaha HTR-5890 (130 watts per channel) and they sound INCREDIBLE. I bought them mainly for home theater, but i also listen to music, which sounds crystal clear.

The midrange and tweeter do an incredible job at capturing detailed sounds in movies that I never heard on my previous system. Voices from the center (which contains the exact same midrange, tweeter, and subwoofer that the 7006's do) sound like real voices; not someone talking in a tin can. The subwoofer picks up deep voices and other noises that any other center wouldn't. I highly recommend pairing the fronts and center for a real theater experience.

The 8" subwoofers produce very tight and accurate bass. I have the Sub Level knobs half way up and it is plenty loud. The only thing about the subs is they obviously don't hit the lows that a 10 or...

Lots of value built in
This review is actually for both the Right and Left channels.

I've had these for about a month now, and I'm very happy with the purchase. Unfortunately, I currently live in an apartment, so I really can't let these speakers stretch their legs, but from what I've heard, the sound is very good and spacious. The spaciousness is probably coming from the bipolar design. The soundstage is not focused in one area and is quite large.

The highs are good and not fatiguing, the mids are present, and the bass is ample and well defined. I have the knob set to 1/4 on each and it's more than enough. Definitive Technology is a little generous with their frequency range. While the speakers may in fact get down to 17 Hz, I doubt there's much output at that frequency. Don't get me wrong, they still provide ample, accurate bass that has real presence. Granted, when I move into a house, I'll be able to really test them out. At present I can only comment how they perform at moderate...
Full Sound
I just bought these speakers as a replacement for my Boston Acoustics VR960's, which also have built in subwoofers. I tried a stand alone sub but I am so used to the dual built in subs that I decided to get these speakers. These have 300 watt built in subs which are quite powerful for a mid sized room. The thing I like about the built in subs, they are not only great for movies, but they are outstanding for rock music. These speakers have the best bass of any speakers I've heard in this price range, and I have the subs at less than half volume. These also have speakers in the front, sides, and back so the sound bounces off the walls and you get a big sound stage which is outstanding for surround sound movies. For music I'm very pleased. We listened to The Dark Side of the Moon stereo SACD last night and I've never heard it sound so dynamic. I don't know if these will hold up as well as Boston Acoustic speakers, which I've used for many years (two sets), but they sound great and they...

Huge sounding full-range speakers impress for the $$
I picked up a pair of these at a local hi-fi shop during a big sale for a bit under a grand. They were the floor demo pair, but on inspection, looked perfect. The review reflects that these speakers had adequate burn in since they had been used for demo purposes before my purchase.

In short, great deal for the money. Monster bass that's adjustable (important!) due to the 300 watt powered sub in the side of each speaker. DefTech also uses dual passive radiators, helping the powered woofer to distribute more pressure in the room. Properly dialed in, the bass response is deep and full across the spectrum (no one note bass here!), and sacrifices in the area of bass control and immediacy. A bit sluggish, but tonally accurate and warm. I prefer depth of response in my casual listening over accuracy of timing. I have never been able to achieve both for less than a few thousand dollars, and there are few speakers at that price point which do. Gallo Reference 3.1s and Von...

Big sound, small space
The sound space created by this design, coupled with the full range of these speakers is outstanding. They passed the "Mannheim Steamroller Fresh Aire 4" test with ease. I am very pleased.
better than expected
I bought these for my second sound system to see if I could improve on the marginally acceptable sound coming from my top of the line Polk Audio sound bar and small subwoofer. I listen to music and am connected to a 55 inch Samsung LED. OMG, these are far superior in clarity (voice), mid range and powerfull base. These are as good or better than my 15 year old and much more expensive ARs. Best buy I've made in a long while.

The speaker features dual 6.5-inch poly/graphite woofers and dual passive radiators to ensure impressive mid tones and extra bass extension. Meanwhile, the 0.75-inch soft dome tweeter reproduces the high frequencies with confident, silky results, creating a frequency response of 29 Hz to 21 kHz. In addition, the DV64 speaker is powerful enough for almost any application, with a maximum recommended amplifier power of 200 watts and a minimum of 10 watts.

Listeners will also appreciate the speaker's elegant appearance, which is topped off by the gracefully tall profile and black laminate finish. For stereo applications, listeners should purchase two DV64s, but for surround sound applications, the speakers perform particularly well when matched with other BIC America models, which are tonally matched to deliver a balanced audio profile. The company recommends using its DV62si speakers for the rear channels, the DV62CLR-S as the center speaker, and the V1215 subwoofer for top-level bass performance. All the speakers in the DV line are magnetically shielded to prevent video interference when located near a TV or monitor.

The speaker measures 8.5 by 38 by 9.25 inches (W x H x D) and carries a generous seven-year limited warranty on parts and labor.

THE FINEST DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR VALUE AROUND
I have owned the BIC America DV64 speakers for 3+ years. My previous speakers were the Electro-voice interface A. These were the first computor designed speakers using a passive radiator instead of a tuned port. As these aged I was unable to get replacement drivers and they began to loose quality. Anyone who remembers these speakers will remember the accolades they recieved from all of the audiopole mag's for their brilliant clarity and astounding tight, smooth and resonant deep bass. As a professional classical musician for more than 45 years I was desparate to find replacements with the same qualities (given good source material) of accurate instrument timbre, smooth frequency response, tight bass, good high frequency dispersion, and proper instrument orchestral placement in the stereo imaging including apparent front to back imaging. Piano is one of the harder instruments to reproduce. The DV64's present you with the crisp clarity Of the hammer stricking the string of a fine...

Amazing Value
These are amazing speakers for the money. I bought these after extensive research, and against my better judgement, bought them without listening to them first. I replaced my 25-year-old Realistic Optimus speakers with these, apprehensive about keeping the deep bass sound that I've so enjoyed with the old speakers. My fears were quickly replaced by a sense of awe with the new BIC's - simply astounding sound that made my old speakers sound, well, old. The bass response is stunning, the highs are crisp and clean, and my buddy with the Paradynes (sp?) was impressed enough to say that my theater surround system (all BIC's) put his in the dust. I ran these speakers through their paces with 2-channel audio (Metallica, Fleetwood Mac, Miles Davis, FM radio jazz and classic rock), as well as 7.1 surround with concert DVD's (Stevie Ray Vaughan, Rush, Neil Young, and the Blue Man Group), and standard movie DVD's (Saving Private Ryan, Lord of the Rings, We Were Soldiers), and can honestly...
A Hidden Treat
I really felt like I was getting away with something when I got these incredible speakers for such a modest price. It's hard for me to imagine paying $500 and getting a better product.

Originally I thought it strange that only two of the drivers were active while the other two were passive. After some research, however, I found that those two passive drivers perform an important function after all. While most mainstream speaker designs feature a port to aid in the flow of air in & out of the enclosure, the DV64 utilizes a closed design in which the passive drivers compensate for air movement created by the active drivers. This in turn helps add more dimension to the lower frequencies that the speaker produces. All this to say that these speakers were intelligently crafted & sound wonderful.

Also, I would like to mention that the cox man came to my house a couple days ago and totally knocked over one of my DV64s (AAARRRGGG!!) It turns out that these towers...

Extreme Performance in Audio and HT
Exterior Finish - Got the speakers and unpacked them to an amazing sight of cherry finish with the high gloss back top. My wife absolutely loved it. They are one of the bigger towers and will dwarf even a 40inch TV.

Sound - Listened to a lot of speakers..Paradigm studios, klipsch Icons, reference series, Polk Rtis, PSB image towers and Infinity towers....to me the paradigm studios were the best in sound but they were astronomical in terms of price. Finally it was between these and the PSBs, the klipsh Icons and the polks RTis sounded bright to me. Did a lot of listening with my own cd at Frys, my friends place, bestbuy and a whole list of places. The psbs seemed to have the best mid range but lacked the clarity at the highs these provided. The klipsch Icons were ruled out as even the TSI400s sounded better than those. Since i was looking for beefier mids I went with these and have not looked back since. Running them using an Emotiva amp. I have pushed them to a true 100...

A note on the cherry exterior
Much has been written about the acoustical qualities of this speaker so I just wanted to add a comment about the cherry exterior. First off, it is beautiful. It looks like quality wood furniture and the high gloss piano black accents are very sophisticated.

I want to assure you that the color of the cherry is not nearly as orange or shiny as it appears in the picture. The photograph makes it appear almost garish in my opinion. It is a classy muted cherry and the finish has a fairly flat hand rubbed appearance.

This may be good news to you or not depending on your taste, but at least now you have something to help you decide.
Great High Quality Home Audio Speakers
I bought my Polk Audio TSi 500's from Amazon and had it shipped direct to my home. The shipping was handled very well and was delivered by a local carrier that handled large packages for Amazon. The speaker came direct from Amazon's warehouse in Southern California.
Before I chose the Polks, I auditioned several speakers from Frys Electronics & Best Buy. I had a limited budget of less than $1,000 for a pair of speakers so I listened to speakers that fell within this price range. I listened to Klipsche's offerings, the Polk Audio TSi 400, Bose 301 and Accoustimass system, B&W, & Definitive Technology. They all sounded good enough but there were only a few standouts. The Bose 301's were cheap at less than $300 each but they sounded weak--just wasn't in the ballpark of the others. These speakers should be in the $200/each for their sound quality. The Accoustimass 2-channel stereo speakers sounded better and definitely would present a very small footprint in my living room...
